"Beautiful, just like you." She said taking my hand in hers. She dropped her bag on the sand and we went down to the water.
"Oh!" I yelled as the cold water hit my legs She picked me up and spun me around kissing me, I kissed her back and she smiled down at me once I was back on my feet. "I love you, Lucy."
"I love you to Dolly." She said kissing my head. The beach had a few people on it and I suddenly realized how self-conscious I was. "Your beautiful." She said.
"And cold." I laughed, we went back to the sand and Lucy passed me the blanket to layout.
"Dolly."
"Hum?" I said putting a rock on one of the corners.
"Marry me." I turned around to find her on her knee. "I mean... please will you marry me. And remember a few months back you told me you could never say no to me-" by now she was crying as she let out a laugh and that made me cry. "I know that I don't deserve you, and you can do so much better but I... just want you in my life forever. I want to have kids with you, grow old with you, pull our kids out of school and bring them here to show them where mom proposed."
"I..." I had my hand over my mouth, I couldn't find the words I needed.
"Dolly..."
"I..." I slowly nodded. "Yes... of course, yes I'll marry you." I looked down at the ring in the box and she took it out tossing the box to the side and she slid the ring on my finger.
"God I love you." She picked me up and hugged me tightly.
"I love you too," I said and she kissed my lips.
"Are you crying?" She asked.
"No," I said wiping my eyes and she laughed wrapping her arms around me again.
"I was supposed to wait till our last night here. But that ring has been burning a hole in my pocket the past eleven months."
"Eleven months!?" I asked.
"Yes." She nodded with a smile. "I... didn't know when or if I was ever going to do it but... I figured this trip would be perfect."
"I love you." I mumbled shaking my head. She kissed me and smiled.
"I love you too." She smiled.
