fourteen

I woke being tickled, I looked down to see Luca smiling at me. "Hi, honey," I said leaning forward and tickling him. He giggled and ran to Lucy. "How was school?" I asked.

"Good, I got a new book to read." He smiled holding up diary of a wimpy kid.

"I read that what I was a kid."

"Really?" He asked and I nodded. "Did you like it?"

"I loved it, I hated reading when I first got it but I ended up reading the first three I think."

"Wow." He smiled.

"Are you hungry?" Lucy asked him.

"Um, a little."

"Do you want a peanut butter, jam sandwich?" I asked.

"Sure." He went to the kitchen table with his book and started to read it. I made us all sandwiches and we ate and then Luca went to do his homework, Lucy came over wrapping her arms around me and kissed my neck.

"I love you kitten." She said in my ear.

"I love you too."

"How are you feeling?" She asked and her phone started to ring.

"I'm good." I smiled at her.

"You seem off." I shook my head as she grabbed her phone. "Hello?" She kissed my forehead and made her way down the hall. I sat on the couch and sighed, something seems off.

"Dolly."

"Yes, honey," I said looking at Luca.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." He walked over with his math book and pointed to a question.

"I don't know if I'm doing it right. Can you help me?"

"Let me see." I looked at the problem, it was adding with decimals.

"Ok, so when you're adding normal numbers what do you do?"

"Uh, put them on top of each other."

"Yep." I nodded and he wrote the three numbers without decimals then looked at me. "Ok, so your next number is 1882.37, if this top number-" I said pointing to 37. "-was money, how would you write it?" He put a dot and two zeros after it. "So now line up all the dots." He started to put the rest of the numbers in then he started to add them. "Did your teacher not show you this honey?"

"I'm moved on to the next chapter I finished early."

"Good job." I smiled and he smiled back. Once he finished his school work Lucy was still working so I decided to take Luca with me to Target. I bought him a fortnight bedspread and I bought Lucy a new watch, on the way home we decided to pick up Taco Bell for dinner.

"I had fun today, thank you for the blanket," Luca said as we pulled into the driveway.

"You are most welcome, thank you for coming with me." I got out and he helped me bring the stuff in. "Lucy," I said once in the house, I walked over to her office and she was reading a book.

"I thought you might never come back." She put the book down and walked over to me.

"I figured I would." I shrugged.

"Well, I'm glad you did." She kissed me lightly and I smiled up at her.

"I bought you something."

"Yeah?" She asked, I nodded and she followed me to the living room.

"Look what Dolly got me!" Luca said showing her his new blanket.

"Awesome!" She smiled.

"Wanna show her what we got her?" I asked him and he nodded getting the watch from the bag.

"Oh wow!" She said looking down at it.

"Do you like it?" I asked.

"I love it." She said taking it out of the case and looked it over.

"I know it's not an expensive fancy one b-"

"Hey, I love it. Thank you both." She said.
