The next morning Echo walked into Verna's bedroom, she seemed sad. Verna was sat in front of her mirror as May pinned her heir up.

"May, you can go." Echo said as she walked towards the heiress. "I'm sorry Verna."

"Congratulations." Verna whispered.

"I'm sorry." Echo said again. "I did not mean for any of this. I thought you and I shall still be friends but now. . .i don't know little v. I don't. A-and now your life is going to change forever."

"You act like this is going to kill me." Verna whispered.

"It might, childbirth is a scary thing. I lost two aunts because of it." Echo said. "I'm scared to do it myself."

In the mirror Verna saw her. The two females were different in every way. Verna was plum, with edges that she had not seen on any of the High Fae or even lesser fae. Her hips were wide and her stomach pocked out, she had a second chin sometimes when she moved her head. She had pale skin that always seemed to have a red flush to them. Freckles marked her face and shoulders. She had green eyes and was the colour of the forest and hair like dawn itself. With the calm yellows and reds. Verna was short where Echo was tall. Echo was skinny, with long legs and a small chest. She held her head high when Verna walked with it down. Echo had large dove like eyes the colour of ink and her hair was colour of the night.

"He's here." Exho warned. "Please. . .don't be nice. Make him suffer for this."

"Don't worry, I will."

Verna hated the dress that her father had picked for her. It was pale green, Spring Court green. Tamlin had also picked out a blush pink necklace for Verna to wear, something that was once owned my his mother, Yasmine. On the way down, Verna had dumped into the Dragon. The female looked at Verna up and down and gave her a sad smile.

"If you need. . ." the dragon said. "I will help you hide the body. . .make them suffer for this. Make it your choice."

Verna nodded as she walked to the dinner hall, the table was filled with food and yet Verna was told not to touch it. Not until the guest had arrived. He was small, Verna thought taking in her cousin for the first time. Her grandmothers second cousins son. And Verna could see that the two of them indeed looked alike, he had blonde heir and a plumb body much like Verna had. His eyes the colour of honey.

"High Lord." He said to Tamlin. He seemed nervous.

Good. Verna thought. He should be. He should run from me and what I am.

"Cousin." Tamlin spoke. "May I introduce, Echo my fiancé. And the Miss Verna."

"Miss Verna." He said, bowing his head at her. "Im honored that you had picked me, High Lord. It's a honor."

"Indeed it is." Verna spat before she sat down .

She waisted no time in picking up the food, making a show of it to use her hands. She tired to act like the half beast that she was. If he cared or noticed, her cousin did not say anything. Tamlin raised an eyebrow at his daughter.

"What?" She said between mouthfuls.

"If you keep eating so much your going to hurt your stomach." Replied the male that her father wanted her to marry.
