Triggers: Swearing, a little heavy towards the end...

Tru's POV

January 2; 6:49 a.m.

I shouldn't have gone out. I did though. I didn't listen to Darry. I should have. I made the choice to leave. Johnny made the choice to bring his switchblade. Pony made the choice to toss Soda the switchblade. It was my fault they came.

"She'll be okay?"

"Is she hurt too bad?"

"Why does she look funny?"

"She should make a full recovery. The doctors ran some tests, and there are no major injuries. Her back is scraped, bruises and cuts here and there, a mild concussion from the impact she took from the concrete, but fortunately your friend should be all set in a week or two."

"Why did she even pass out?"

"Heat exhaustion. Shock. Maybe your friend was a little sleep deprived. She should be fine."

I tried to get up and open my eyes, but my body held me down. I hurt way too much, and the more I tried, the more I ached.

"What about the other two?"

"Mr. Curtis is alright. A little shaken up- yes, but will be alright. On the other hand, Mr. Cade will take a while. We put stitches in the back of his neck."

I heard some uncomfortable shifting around.

"I-I'm sorry..." The gentle voice cracked a little. "I'm so sorry, guys."

"Aw, Johnnycakes. You got nothing to worry about. It'll all be fine."

When I woke up again, this time I wasn't as tired. Yeah, everything still hurt, but this time it was a bit more bearable.

The room I was in was quiet besides a faint beeping noise in the background. I found everything I heard to seem a little muffled- like wearing a bunch of earmuffs, permanently stuck to your head.

When I tried to shift to a more comfortable position, I felt pain immediately shoot up throughout my body. As a reflex, I opened my eyes wide, which soon caused me to close them back up once I was blinded by the white room I laid in.

"T-Tru?"

I slowly opened my eyes so they could have time to adjust to the light before examining my surroundings. My brain felt like it was pounding against the walls of my head. My body was throbbing all over. I felt weak. I don't like to feel weak.

The gang was crowded around my bed- or at least half of them, anyway. Dallas was leaning against a wall, Steve was rubbing Johnny's back for his comfort alongside my bed, and a beautiful young girl in a nurse's outfit stood next to Two-Bit- a little too close for comfort. All eyes were on me.

 All eyes were on me
