The White Woodlands

While the queen ruled over Galotum, she was unaware of what was going on in the White Woodlands. The wind blustered through the woods behind Swift on his care-free run back to his Grandpa's house, where his Grandpa was making some carrot soup.

The house was nothing special. Outside, it was made of wood with vegetables on the left, right and back sides of the house. The door flung open with a bang, "Hey Grandpa, what's cooking?" asked Swift in a happy tone.

"Oh Swift, you returned. Well, take a seat my boy and let's have some supper." said the bushy moustache that seemed to take up the Grandpa's whole mouth. The older Hedgehog was a lighter shade of blue, wore a grey long sleeve shirt and, just like Swift, simple leather shoes. His name was Jonathan Hedgehog. Jonathan had been raising his grandson for 13 years. Because... well, you'll have to wait for that part.

While Swift was chowing down his food like a well-mannered hedgehog, a question crossed his mind as to why he couldn't leave his house, much less the White Woodlands. "Hey Grandpa, why can't I go beyond the woods?"

Jonathan almost choked on his carrot soup from the unsuspected question. "Well l guess I should tell you sooner or later. My boy, beyond the woods is a kingdom that was brought to ruin because of Queen Lee-ana. She commands monsters, the last remaining knights, and she rules it all in an era of fear and darkness. Your mother and father also told me, if anything were to happen to them, I must take you somewhere safe."

"So... that's the reason we're hiding in the White Woodlands?" the M.A.-sonic replied, and with a smile of confidence continued, "Alright then Grand-pa, when I'm old enough I'll leave the White Woodlands, find someone to train me on how to use a sword, and when I'm ready I'll beat Lee-ana." It was very normal among commoner kids in these ages to leave the house when they became 18 or 19. However, there were exceptions to this but it was rare.

Swift's Grand-pa's eyes opened wide, not seeing even a glint of fear in Swift. "I don't believe it, he's not showing any hate towards Lee-ana for taking away his parents. That is a rare thing in people... Perhaps Swift does have what it takes to become the newest and truest of knights." thought Jonathan proudly as his thoughts drifted.

The Next Day

Swift woke up before his grand-pa did, to go on his routine morning run. But what Swift didn't know was that his life would never be the same again.

As he dashed through the woods Swift came across a cave.

"Wow, never seen this cave before!" Curious, the Blue Hedgehog entered into the cave, unaware of the winds of change.

Within the pitch-black cave, Swift found a light shining on a sword in a stone. [Writers note. The sword looks just like Cliburn from the game, except it could do even more.]

And on the stone was some writing. Swift read, "The one that pulls-foot..."

"It's not pulls-foot, you Hedgehog. Its pulleth!"

"Whoa! A talking... sword?"

"My name is Calasear, to you boy. I'll translate. The one that pulleth the sacred blade, Calasear, shall be trained by the sword while learning the old code of knights."

"So if l pull... you out of the stone... l get to become a knight?"

Calasear replied with a snort, "No, a squire. But in time, I'll see if you can learn how to use a sword properly, my young hedgehog."

Swift took Calasear by the handle and pulled him out of the stone. But what Swift didn't know was that freeing the living sword would act like a beacon to inform the wielders of the sacred blades. He didn't even realize it but he had just broadcasted a signal to the knights that the 6th barer had been chosen. However it did not also mean that they knew where he was.
