Chapter 23 New Bonds

With the Sacred Blade wielders having found their way out of the pit of lava; and Swift having just become an official Knight – they decided to depart Ashfall together to tend to the mammals wounds.

They finally journeyed upon wide grassy plains stretching far as their eyes could see, surrounding a flat rock just big enough for four people to sit on. Swift and Percival rested there for a bit from their tiresome ordeal, enjoying the silence as the wind blew against their colourful fur.

"This is nice, isn't it?" The M.A.-Sonic was the first to break the silence.

"It is, but I shouldn't be here. If a monster knight or commoner saw us like this... Thomas would be put in greater danger." The Princess rose from her seat pulling Vollnoca out of the ground.

"Oh come on, do you still not believe that we broke Lee-ana's spell on Thomas?"

The M.A.-Blaze paused in her step. She turned to Galotum's most wanted with a glare hidden behind her visor, ready to accuse them. Wise Steel beat her to the punch.

"Lady Percival, have you taken a moment to think over how we knew about Thomas' situation?" The living sword questioned with a metal brow.

This seemed to appease the royal Cat, as she mulled over the Sacred Blade's words. She's hadn't thought about it if she was honest with herself. How did they know about the spell placed on Thomas? There were only four people that knew what the young snow Leopard was going through. Herself, the Queen and Thomas' parents. With this in mind, she felt embarrassed with herself as she hadn't put the pieces together sooner. Percival put her face in her hands.

Seeing that the Princess had come to realize her mistake, Calasear spoke once more. "You seem to be considering our words now. But if you're still harbouring some doubts, then let us introduce you to Nimu."

"The Lady of the Lake?"

"Pardon me, before we do that I have something to ask you, if that's alright with you?" The M.A.-Sonic interjected the fire Princess.

"Of course." The wielder of Vollnoca replied. After jumping to conclusions back at Askfall, she felt terrible with herself. Answering any questions was the least she could do for the swordhog.

"How much do you know about Calasear?" Swift questioned the Princess with crossed arms.

Percival was slightly thrown off by that, why would he want to know what she knew about Calasear? Didn't the living sword tell anything? This was strange to her but the Cat still answered the Hedgehog, hoping he would reveal his intention behind asking this question.

"Well, for starters, he was once the mentor of my uncle. Among the seven Sacred Blades, Calasear was the only one that had a soul and used wind magic. He was forged by both the Lady of the Lake and Leo." The M.A.-Blaze finished.

The duo looked at each with flat expressions as the swordhog spoke with a tone that matched his face. "Lee-ana..."

"Pardon?" came the confused Percival's reply.

"Allow me to elaborate for you." Wise Steel said simply. He started telling her that every Sacred Blade could only be wielded by someone possessing one or more aspects of a Knight. Himself included, and that his wielder needed the aspect of truth.

Percival stared blankly at the two before the realisation set in. This meant that Sonic had to be telling the truth. Percival's mouth hung wide open rather cartoonishly.

"Are you okay, Percival?" Swift asked, concerned she was about to faint.

"I am not. How in Galotum didn't I see that Thomas I met wasn't the real one but an illusion?" The M.A.-Blaze choked, frustration clear in her trembling voice. Thomas was her first and only friend in all of Galotum. So how come she didn't see through Lee-ana's illusion earlier?
