Jeno's face contorted into confusion as he looked at Jaemin. "Angel... of Death?" He asked slowly.
The glowing boy nodded his head. "Yep. Here, let me explain." He said as he sat cross-legged on the bed across from Jeno.
"In life, everyone dies." He started carefully. He didn't want to say everything all at once or else it would probably make the human very confused.
"Everyone has a pre-written death. It's their destiny. But, sometimes things can go out of control." He explained, watching Jeno's reactions carefully.
"So to prevent that, we exist." He said as he pointed to himself.
"You mean the Angels of Death?" Jeno questioned.
Jaemin nodded. "You're understanding! Anyways, I am here to make sure that you live out your fated death." He said.
The human clicked his tongue as he listened to the angel intently. "Is that it?" He asked as Jaemin stopped talking.
"Basically. The other stuff is a little complicated and not anything you need to know right now unless you really want to." Jaemin responded.
Jeno nodded his head. "Then... can I ask you a few questions?" He asked carefully. He didn't know if he was allowed to do so but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
And luckily the pink-haired boy nodded.
"Okay then." He said before pointing at the angel's chest. "What does that timer mean?" He asked as he looked at the slowly ticking clock.
"That," Jaemin said as he looked down at his chest. "Is when you'll die." He said as he touched the numbers.
He pointed at each column as he said their labels aloud. "Years, months, days, hours and minutes." He continued as he looked back up at Jeno.
The human's eyes widened. "You mean I'm going to die when I'm only twenty one?" He asked incredulously as he stared at the glowing red numbers.
Jaemin nodded. "Yeah, sorry to break it to you." He said with a small frown.
Jeno nodded, but he was visibly a lot less happy at the news. "I know you said all that stuff about destiny but are you able to change my death?" He asked hopefully.
He really didn't want to die that young. No one did. He liked his life and he always wanted to live long and see everything that life could bring.
But much to his disappointment, Jaemin shook his head. "I could, but I won't." He said.
"And before you think I'm a terrible person for saying that, listen." He said, as he could already feel the betrayal radiating off of Jeno at his words.
"Maybe I should've thought of a better choice of words." He said with an awkward chuckle.
"Back to my whole thing about fate, if I were to let you live longer than you're supposed to then it would mess up the entire life and death cycle amongst humans." He said as he looked deep into the human's eyes.
