"The first 100 students to fulfill the requirements will pass today."

Shouto looks up at the screen, big letters supporting what the tired man is saying. Yaoyorozu fidgets next to him, "There are over 1500 people taking this test. I thought they said that about half of us would be passing."

Shouto nods and then Asui croaks, he turns his head to look at her. "This means... it's actually less than one percent'll get a license."

"Oh, man!" Jirou hugs herself, "I'm getting way more nervous!"

The tired man stands up lazily, "Well, the world can be pretty crappy." Shouto felt that. "I suppose I should say something about luck..."

"...So, anyway, here are the basic rules."

He goes on to explain that each student will wear three targets on their body, anywhere not hidden. They've been given six specially made balls to throw at other's targets. Take down two people, and you pass.

Shouto will have to do more than that. He has to take away opportunities from other schools by taking down as many people as he can without risking his own score. It'll help him and his class in the long run.

He looks over to Midoriya, ignoring the stares from other people. He can hear the guy thinking, pressing his bottom lip between two fingers and staring at the screen with vibrant green eyes.

"...then you'll have a few moments to situate before we open," Shouto missed the first part but he can guess what was said.

Wait...

Shouto looks up to the guy, "Open...?"

The room starts shaking and then the roof starts to open, light spilling in on them. The walls unfold like paper and surrounding them is something not unlike the USJ. There's a mountain area, factory area, city area, and even a waterfall-type lake. It's a bit extra just for an exam, but it's well thought through to accommodate to different quirks and practicality practice. If you get stuck somewhere where your quirk isn't suitable, you'll have to struggle through this test.

"Everyone! Stay close together, we'll fight as a group," Midoriya stands tall and confident, and Shouto feels bad for what he's about to do.

It's not that he doesn't want to work with Midoriya- it's that Shouto's quirk is suited better as a soloist act. And he was trained to fight alone. He can't just give up the habits he's created to live.

He opens his mouth to speak but gets interrupted. "Yeah right, this isn't a field trip!" Bakugo walks off, Kirishima calling him an idiot and following him, Kaminari follows as well.

Shouto's turn. "I'm going on my own too," he turns so he won't have to see the look on Midoriya's betrayed face. "It's hard for me to use my powers safely when there are bug groups around." Midoriya can't have actually expected everyone to listen to him just because he said so. Everyone here has different experiences and different fighting styles. It's foolish to try and fit everyone together just because he feels safer that way.

"Todoroki!"

Shouto ignores it, breaking off from the group with a sprint. It's been a while since he's run like this, probably since Hosu.

He ends up in the factory area, more hiding places there than out in the open. It's going to be less populated than the city by default, and the structures here are metal, they dent instead did breaking all brittle like.

The tired man announces that 52... no 53 people have passed. 230 have failed. To think someone would get this far only to fail... he can't let that be him. Those were capable students... not capable enough. They didn't cut it for this specific test, but what if the test had been different?
