After we had gotten to the first town most people were exhausted. We found a pretty decent motel in the middle of town, and of course being the strange people walking through town the townspeople stared at us like we were the plague. When we walked into a motel for the second time it dawned on me that until we get rid of the Hunters, this will be our lives from now on. I wanted to go home, but the pack came first to me. I had to do what was right for the pack.

   "Lia," Brian said my name.

"Yeah," I answered coming up to him.

"Let's go upstairs," He said putting an arm around my shoulder.

I looked and wondered how long I had been standing there because everyone else was gone. I looked up at Brian and smiled at him.

"Is there something on your mind, Lia?" Brian asked me as we waited on the elevator.

"Well now a days everything is on my mind, but something in particular is today," I stopped talking to press the elevator button again.

 "And what would that be?"

"Well I want to know why I wasn't Beck's mate like I was supposed to. I mean like you guys said, the fates don't just change that without a purpose," I said stepping to the elevator.

"We don't know the answer to that yet. I was hopping to get in touch with the Elders once again and discuss that with them.  I don't know why they changed it at the last second, I only know that it means you and Alec are destined to do great things one day as leaders of a pack," He said getting out on the third floor.

"I feel bad for Beck. He had his mate taken away from him and I got the better deal out of it," I said walking around the corner.

"What happened to Beck was in the best interest to him. The fates with find him a more suitable mate for him and his temper. I have never seen a better mate pair than you and Alec. Your wolves are most calm around each other and you two are just like you were literally made for each other and no one else. I honestly don't think that- if you had to give up Alec- you would find a better mate for you. You two just click," He said stopping in front of what I assumed to be my hotel room with Alec.

I smiled at Brian as a thank you.

"Is there anything you need to talk about?" He asked me pulling me in for a hug.

"There are a couple things, but they can wait for tomorrow. Night Brian," I said walking into the room and shutting the door.

I walked in and Alec was sitting on the couch watching basketball. I sat down next to him and he put an arm around me. I really didn't want to watch this and Alec must have been reading my mind because he turned to me.

"We can watch something else if you want," He said holding the remote out to me.

If he really wanted to watch basketball that bad I could let him. I needed a shower anyway.

"No, its fine," I said and got up to go to the bathroom.

Alec followed and wrapped an arm around my waist.

    "What's wrong?" He asked me.

I leaned into him and he started trailing soft kisses on my neck. I think I was enjoying it more than I should be.

"You know, I haven't marked you yet," He said kissing the spot were he would.

"Mmhm," I said incoherently.

"I think I should soon. I love you more than anything and I want people to know you're mine. I see the way guys look at you, and I will admit I get jealous. I want to love and protect you in every way that I can," He said turning me around to look at him.
