Run Like You Mean It (Berlin wolves series)

Chapter 17

 ~~Lia's POV~~

  Not alot has been happening over that past few weeks. But one thing i was absolutely certain, Chase was still alive. Out there somewhere with the Hunters. But he wouldnt help them would he? I was laying on my bed in the room I was staying in when a knock sounded on mt door.

  I opened it and Rylee stepped in.

"Hey Rylee," I said shutting the door when she came in.

  "Hey," was all she said.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

  "What if i'm not like you? Or what if I am and Derek isnt my mate? Like with you and Beck," She said sitting down on my bed.

   I sat down beside her and we sat in scilence for a while.

'If you dont become like us then that's too bad, but it wouldnt change our friendship. If you are and Derek isnt your mate that's okay too. All the guys are really sweet. I know you really like Derek but if he isnt your mate then you are lucky to have any of the guys in the pack, " I explained to her.

   She didnt say anything for awhile and I thought she had fallen asleep but then another voice came from my doorway.

 "Lia?" Alec asked standing in my doorway.

I looked up at him to show him I was listening,

  "Derek wants to see Rylee," he said.

Rylee nodded and gave me a quick hug before leaving. I stood up and walked over to Alec.

  "And we where summoned to the library by Brian," he said kissing my nose.

I smiled and we walked downstairs to the library. We walked in and several people where gathered there already.Even Beck was there. I tried to avoid going near him as Alec and I walked across the room.

 "Hello Lia. Hello Alec. So glad you could join us," The woman I immeadiatly recognized as Rose spoke.

 I nodded at her and then spoke to Brian.

 "Why are we here?" I asked.

   "Well we need to discuss some things," he replied.

"Yes we do," said a strange voice from the door.

  I turned around and looked into the face of an old woman with her white hair twisted up in a bun with not a hair out of place and a sofisticated dress.

  "Felicity, so glad you could make it on such short notice," Jazz said sitting down in a chair.

"It's good to be back. And it's good to see my grandchildren too," She said locking eyes with me.

 "I'm sorry, did you say grandmother? I didnt know you where even alive," I said looking at her.

   "Well you wouldnt. Your parents hated me. They didnt wnat you growning up in the shadow of a werewolf. They didnt like it very much when I showed up the day you where born and ask to take you so you could grow up with other's like you would become," Felicity said stepping toward me.

 "Okay...i feel a little more comfortable now," I said backing up into Alec.

    "Ah yes. I believe we need to discuss this now. Everyone please sit down," she said.

Everyone took a seat at the big. Alec and I where across from beck and I could tell they where getting tense.

  "Now, as you know Lia you where supposed to be Beck's mate but for whatever reason the fates changes it at the last minute and made Alec your mate," Rose said looking at the three of us.

 I saw Beck stiffen up when she said that.

  "The fates do not so willingly change a person's course. If they set it then it happens. That's just how it works. So what we are trying to figure out is why they changed it at the last minute. We think it becuase you are destined to do great things with him," Jazz said sitting back in his chair.

 Beck made a gagging sound and then he stood up.

"If all this is going to be about is their love life then I'm leaving," He said walking towards the door.

 "You are not! Sit down right now Beck Oliver!" Brian yelled at him standing up.

 Beck ignored him and kept walking. We all just stared after him while he walked away.

  "Calm down Brian," my grandmother said evenly.

 Brian took a deep breath and sat down again. He shook his head and looked at me.

   "Well anyway, the second thing we need to talk to you about is this," He nodded to Jazz who slid a manilla folder my way.

 I took it and slowly opened it. Inside where pictures of blurry shapes; kinda like action shot. The last two pictures where what shocked me the most. One was of me by the road before i shifted. This was also like a kinda action shot becuase I was kinda in mid jump to shift. The next picture was of a wolf. My wolf in mid-air jumping into the trees. They had caught me. They know our secret.

  "Where did you find these?" I asked shakily.

"We had one of our assistants bully it out of a local news reporter. He heard about the commotion on the road and wanted a new scoop.  We originally thought he was part of the Hunters but he didnt know anything. And even the Hunters can't lie that well," Rose replied looking across the table at me.

  "So they know about us?" Alec asked them.

"Not exactly. To our knowledge all the copies of this picture whas destroyed. Though we have not recieved any information about the sim card in the man's camera. We are working on it though Lia, so dont worry," Jazz said standing up and stretching.

  "Okay you two. Time to get to bed. I will see you in the morning," Felicity said standing also and holding open the door.

  Alec and I walked back to our room but sleeping was the last thing on our mind. Just as we where about to open the door to our room an idea hit me.

  "Wanna walk around with me?" I asked him.

"I'd walk anywhere with you," He said taking my hand as we walked down the hallway.

   "What is the deal with Derek and Riley?" I asked him quietly.

"Derek thinks that if Riley doesnt become a werewolf then he wll lose it. He says...he says that he will give up his wolf to be with her. But I'm not quite sure he would go that far," Alec explained.

  "Would you do that for me?"

"What?" He asked.

   "If I wasnt a wolf would you give up yours to be with me? If by some tragedy I lost my wolf abilities, would you?" I asked hesitantly.

 He stopped and turned to look to at me.

   "I would do anything to be with you. I know this might sound a little bit much considering we just got together, but I mean it. I care about you more than you know. I think I always have," He said half smiling.

 I just looked at him and smiled.

  "Me too." Was my only reply to him as our lips met in a passionate kiss.

     His lips were warm and soft against mine. He kissed me hard and with soft force and I gave it back  to him. We kissed untill we wer both tired enough to go back to our room and fall asleep together....
