April 7th, 1564.
Francis pov.
I sat in my study, trying to focus on the multiple papers scattered across my desk.
My thoughts were with Bianca who was giving birth to our child one floor up. Would she survive childbirth? Would the child survive the delivery? Those were bad thoughts that I just couldn't get out of my head.
There was a short knock on the door and then Bianca's lady-in-waiting came into the room, I couldn't remember her name.
She made a hasty curtsy. "Your Majesty, my Lady Bianca has given birth," she gasped. I immediately got up and went to her room.
Bianca lay on the bed. The bed had been changed with clean sheets and she herself was wearing a simple white dress.
In her arms lay a small bundle wrapped in thick blankets.
When she saw me a smile appeared on her face.
"Francis, come here and meet your son," she said. I smiled, I finally had a child, a son at least.
I walked over to her bed and took the bundle from her. "My son" I whispered. "I have a son".
I laughed. It was a roaring sound. The sound of a proud father.

Bianca Pov."Louis. We'll call him Louis. On behalf of the many kings who have ruled France and the many to come," Francis said, holding our son, Louis, in his arms.
I smiled "Very well, Louis will be his name then.". Francis walked towards me and placed Louis carefully in my arms again.
He turned to the midwives standing in the corner "You will be well rewarded for your support. You may go." The midwives made a happy curtsy and left the room. He then turned to Cecily who was standing on the other side of the bed "Notify my mother, Maximilian and the court of the birth of my son. Today should be celebrated."
Cecily nodded and walked out of the room.
I looked at Louis. My dear son. He had Francis's Golden Blonde hair, but when he opened his little eyes and then quickly closed them again, I saw that he had my brown eyes.
He was the perfect combination of both of us. He was proof of our love for each other.
"Isn't he perfect. He is completely healthy, the midwives said and when he ate from the wet nurse she said she has never seen a child drink so diligently." I said proudly to Francis.
He sat down next to me and looked at Louis too. "He's going to be strong." I agreed "Just like his father."
Cecily came back into the room with Catherine, Maximilian and, to my surprise, Mary.
"A grandson!" Catherine exclaimed in delight as she approached the bed. I gently handed her the baby "His name is Louis."
She looked at the baby and I saw Mary take a quick glance at Louis from behind her shoulders.
"He looks a lot like Francis but not much like you." she noted. "He does look a lot like Francis, but he has my brown eyes." I said smiling. Nothing could ruin my day.
Francis didn't seem to notice either "Tonight the birth of my son will be celebrated. I will write to the Pope later to have my son acknowledged after which he will be baptized."
I cringed. The Pope was Ottavio's father, he would never allow his daughter-in-law and the king's child to be recognized.
"Didn't you hear, brother." Said Maximilian "The Pope is dead. Like since last night. The college of cardinals are already trying to find the next pope."
I exhaled with relief and relaxed again. Catherine handed Louis back to me and I held him close to me.
when my son would be baptized and recognized by his father, nothing and no one could turn against me.
My place was secured.
There is a small, possible, spoiler in this chapter.
And what about little Louis? Did you secretly hope for something different and what do you think will happen in the future regarding Mary, Francis, Bianca and little Louis.
