4 years later
May 9th, 1676.

"Congratulations, you are pregnant, Your Highness!" exclaimed the doctor cheerfully.

I felt a smile break on my face and my ladies-in-waiting, Joan and Jane, smiled too. "Congratulations!" they both cried.

I thanked the doctor and climbed out of bed. "I'll tell Francis. You may withdraw."

She nodded and made a curtsy.

Ever since Jane noticed that Francis wouldn't pay her any attention, she had given up and her father had let her marry a simple noble man, someone who was not worthy of her.

I knocked on the door of Francis's study and slipped in.

He was writing behind his table. "May I disturb you for a moment?" I asked. He looked up from his letter and smiled when he saw me "You always, Bianca."

I came and stood next to him and held his hand "We will be parents again, my love."

He looked at me cheerfully and kissed me. "Another baby, my god we're going to be parents again. How many months are you about?"

I thought "About 4 months. The delivery won't be long in coming." I tried to smile but I had a bad feeling. Like something bad happened to the baby bag.

Francis didn't seem to notice. "We'll have to announce it at tonight's banquet. After 7 years, a child will finally be born."

I nodded. "Then I'll go get myself ready." I got up and made a curtsy and walked out of the room.

The bad feeling was still there.

At the banquet, the family sat at the large, long table on the platform.

As usual, Mary and I sat next to Francis. Catherine, who was still ill, was not present. Also Maximilian, Cecily and Julien were not present so the children sat next to me and Mary.

The rest of the court sat at the tables scattered around the room.

Music was played and there was singing. Everyone seemed to be happy but I felt worried I didn't know why.

Francis signaled the musicians to stop making music and stood up.

"Dear people, I want to tell you all that my mistress-and-titre, the Duchess is pregnant."

Everyone started clapping and I smiled gently. The children immediately started talking at the same time and asked me about everything.

I felt overwhelmed and all I wanted now was to lie in my bed and rest. I felt exhausted and tired.

Her demise is coming and there's nothing anyone can do about it.
