September 16th, 1564.

"The Huguenots are now more dangerous than ever." said Mary. She stood at the front of the throne room where she spoke to us. "It could happen at any moment that they invade the palace to kill us, the Catholic followers. We must be prepared for an attack."

I looked around in shock. I had to get myself and Louis to safety. We must be far from court.

Cecily bowed to my ear "We can go to our castle in Nantes." she suggested I nodded gratefully "Yes, I'll make sure Louis and my things are packed." I whispered back.

When Mary had finished, I rushed to my own rooms and asked my chambermaids to pack a travel box full of things. I then went to the nursery and took Louis out of his crib.

"I want you to pack his clothes, we're going to Nantes." I said to his nannies.

"Why are you going to Nantes?" Asked a voice behind me. I turned and saw that it was Mary. I made a curtsy "Your Majesty. Cecily, Louis and I are going to her Chateau in Nantes for our safety." I answered.

She shook her head. "You can go, but Louis stays here. As regent it is my responsibility to keep my husband's son safe."

I looked at her horrified "My son is not leaving me.". "So you stay," Mary said coolly. "You don't have to pack his things, the child stays here, with his stepmother and his mother, if she decides to leave her selfishness behind." She turned and left the room.

I had to stop myself from running after her and smashing her head in.

I took a deep breath and put Louis back in his crib and walked to Cecily's room.

"That bitch refuses to let Louis out of the palace." I said angrily to Cecily. "She did what?"

"She says that as regent she won't let Louis out of the palace because it's her responsibility to keep him safe! She called herself his stepmother, right to my face!" I put my hands in my face "I can't go Cecily, I'm not going anywhere without Louis, you go and stay safe."

Cecily came to me and took my hands. "I would always be faithful to you, Bianca. I promised that."

I smiled and hugged her.

That night I was sleeping with Louis in my room when my chambermaids stormed into the room. "They are here!" she yelled, which startled Louis awake and started to cry.

I was immediately alert when she said that and put on my dressing gown and slippers. "Where are they now!" I asked as I lifted Louis out of the crib and soothed him. "The gardens."

"Then we'll have to be quick."

I ran out of the room and took the staff corridors to the cellars of the palace. I was told from my arrival in France 9 years ago that deep in the palace were rooms that only a few people knew, especially the Royal family and their loved ones. We would be safe there.

"Bianca!" cried Cecily. she was already in the room holding the door open for me and taking Louis from me.

The room was already full but I didn't see Mary.

"Where's the Queen!" I cried. Nobody seemed to know.

Louis started to cry and Cecily tried to soothe him. The poor kid kept crying even when I took him from her. As if he could sense that something wasn't right.

"Louis, please stop crying." I said almost pleadingly. I walked across the room with him.

The door was suddenly opened and Mary's ladies-in-waiting came running into the room. She supported Mary who hung weakly over their arms.

"What happened to the queen!" someone shouted. Everyone gathered around Mary. "She fell down the stairs while we were running." said one of her ladies-in-waiting.

Then I saw it. Her nightgown was drenched in blood.

She was losing her baby.

Haha no happy ending for her
