Dearest readers,
It's been a long time since my last update (2022!!). As you know, I've been writing another book for a while; the serpent queen. But I haven't updated this one for a long time either. This is because I have no more inspiration. Every time I wanted to finish writing it, I only came up with storylines that I actually wanted to incorporate into this book. After all, I was 17 when I wrote this book and now that I've grown older, I have a different vision and writing style for my books.
Now I've decided to rewrite this book (War of Hearts) to a better storyline. One that is complete and not short and unclear like in this current book.
Now I wonder if there are any readers who read this book back when I was still actively writing? I also have the question to all my readers what you would like to see in this book, but especially what kind of writing style you find most pleasant to read. The choices are:
Multiple perspective (alternating perspective)
Characteristics: The story is told from multiple characters, with each character getting their own chapter or section. This can be done in either the first or third person.
• Advantages: Gives the reader multiple points of view, which can add tension and depth, and helps to understand multiple characters.
• Disadvantages: Can be confusing if not clearly stated or if there are too many perspectives.
• Examples: Often used in novels with complex relationships, such as Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.Or
First-person perspective ("first person")
• Characteristics: The story is told from the "first person" form, as if the character themselves were the narrator. The reader gets direct insight into the thoughts, feelings, and perceptions of this character, but only sees what they experience.
• Advantages: Creates an intimate bond with the reader and makes it easier to explore emotions and personal thoughts.
• Disadvantages: Limits the reader to the knowledge and perceptions of one character, which can sometimes lack perspective or tension.
• Examples: Used a lot in Young Adult literature and psychological novels, like in The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Here's a short list of what I'm definitely going to change in the story during the rewrite:
- more 'gray' characters. In the current book, Mary was the biggest Villain, which is actually quite unfair considering that it's Bianca who takes her husband away from her and 'removes' her daughters claim to the throne to her 'bastard'💀.
There are actually no good or bad people in the rewrite, everything they do is a reaction to something.
- Catherine and Henri's other children are barely or not at all mentioned in the original version. C and H have at least 3 other sons besides Francis who are still alive around the time Louis is born. So how is it possible that Louis is chosen as heir before them? I still have to figure out how I'm going to make this logical and if you have any ideas, they are of course welcome.
- Bianca's origins. We know she is the bastard of Cosimo de Medici, but who is her real mother? Would the daughter of a random maid and a duke really be as loved as Bianca is now? And why would she be welcome at the French court to be raised with the children of the royal family? This will also be adjusted.
- Bianca's death - if she dies - do we really believe that Francis would cheat on Bianca? The one for whom he would turn all of France upside down? This was really lazy writing on my part and I will not punish you with this anymore, I promise!
But I cannot promise you that she would not die. In all honesty, it makes the story much more interesting I think - but tell me your opinion about this.
- I want this book to continue with the children of F and B but I will not make a separate book about this like I did with Dynasty. Their story will continue in this book but the book will be divided between Part 1 and Part 2
Do you have any suggestions and ideas for what should be changed. Please let me know, I appreciate and value your opinion.
In the meantime, I will place the new characters.
The current story will remain and the new chapters will be below it. So for those who are still reading, don't worry, you can still read version 1. I will indicate in time when these will be removed.
