November 29th, 1576.

I watched as my father's coffin was lifted into the Medici chapel. My eyes were red with tears. And I held Leonora's hand in my hands.

I had not known my father well. I had lived in France since I was nine and hadn't seen him for 7 years.

I hadn't seen him since the assassination attempt on Louis and that was 10 years ago. Apart from the fact that we wrote to each other and I sent portraits of the children and he sent those gifts back, we had no other form of contact.

And now I regretted it.

When the funeral was over and we returned to the palace, Isabella came and sat next to me in my room. She took my hand.

"I have to tell you something." She said earnestly, I looked at her concerned.

"I'm having an affair with my husband's cousin and I'm afraid he found out. I'm afraid he's going to hurt me and don't want my kids to be there. I would therefore like to ask you to take Leonora with you to France. Virginio will stay here with our brothers."

I nodded "Of course."

She continued "should I die I don't want you or my daughter to come to my funeral, clear? I don't want you to come."

I nodded again, now startled. "I promise, but say goodbye today because I'm leaving for France today. I have heard that the plague has started again in France."

She nodded and went to Leonora's room to say goodbye to her.

When she had done that, I sat in the carriage with Leonora and we drove to France.

Where all the drama would begin.

I'm speeding through the story right now because my vacation is almost over and I'll be back to school then which means I won't be able to update much.
