ChapterTwo: ~Lina

I shivered despite how warm today was. After a restless night's sleep I couldn't seem to get my mind off what I should do. I knew the wolves were probably deceiving me, I was never really welcomed anyways. But the fact is the witches knew of my existence. War was becoming inevitable and I was growing scared of what might be ahead in the future. I mean I'm not a fighter. Never have been and hopefully never will be.

I'm just someone who helps heal. One of the good guys. How do you define good and evil when you're unsure as to what is good and evil anymore? My head was a jumbled mess of confusion. I simply didn't know anymore.

Outside I could hear Alpha Matt talking to presumably some other Alphas that have arrived. Great. More wolves, I mean I guess I should be more accepting of them and their culture but it kinda repulses me. I should be glad to be accepted to this event and even find a mate. But that's not possibly and I really don't care.

Why should I care either? A mate is the others greatest weakness. The only thing that can really and truly destroy a wolf is their mate dying. Who wants that pain and that knowledge of knowing what will make them weak? Not me that's for sure. I sigh and look at the time. Yet at the same time it would be an honour. Can you imagine having someone love you and care for you unconditionally? Be there for you always, especially when you need them the most. I mean, isn't that everyone's dream really?

There's two hours left before the celebrations supposedly begin which mean I should probably go get ready. Seeing as how I have no choice in this matter. Groaning I manage to pull myself up off the couch and into my bedroom. Which is hard work, especially since I am trying really hard to not go. Once there I look through my wardrobe trying to decide what I can wear that will be presentable. I mean I guess I could go in my pyjamas, or even my jeans. Yet somehow I doubt Alpha Matt will allow that. I had been warned earlier not to disappoint by looking like my usual self.

Personally I don't see what's wrong with wearing joggers or jeans a baggy tee and my hair in a bun all the time. I'm comfy wearing that so why should I care what other people think? Like seriously, who gives a damn about public opinion, you certainly wouldn't if you were me. Flicking through my wardrobe I look for a dress, or even a skirt. Just...something. I groan as I find nothing. Nada.

"Dammit." I mutter. "Dammit it all to hell." I then walk out my house and quickly jog over to find Luna Lacy. She would no doubt be in the pack house, attending to our guests. For our Luna she isn't overly fond of me. I mean, sure she is nice enough, but like everyone else she hates the other half of me. I'm hated for something way out of my control. It's so stupid. I go to the back door and knock, waiting impatiently for an answer. I hope to god none of the guests are the ones to open and discover me. Tonight would be touchy enough.

After what feels like forever the door opens.

"Melina, what a surprise." Lacy says. I smile sheepishly.

"Do you have a dress I could maybes borrow?" I ask "I um....don't own one as it turns out."

"Of course, come in." I nod my thanks and follow her through the house. Years ago I had marvelled at the beauty and display of it all. It had been the most magnificent house I had ever seen. The carpets a rich red, the walls cream and there was always this homely feel. It was still rather majestic but lost the grand splendour I once had over it. Luckily for me, the house appeared to be deserted. Quiet and no one in sight. I feel myself sigh in relief at not having to face any scornful looks or people even. At least not yet anyways. That would all change tonight at the celebrations.

"Here we are dear," she says stopping outside a door. "Just choose one you like okay?...I'm sorry my husband is forcing you to do this. I know it won't be pretty for you. I don't blame you either, but we need to uphold the reputation of our pack and ensure no harm comes to us."
