From Jail To School

"Dammit, I've been caught again... I've got to work on my performance level," I muttered to myself kicking the tiniest pebbles on the local jail cell floor, cold stone floor.

The armed knights that had pulled me in laughed at my struggle. They were all in the same padded uniform with their swords at the hip, but it's not like any of them could properly wield them. Still, the Paradise Knights could easily overwhelm someone if you aren't careful. What they lack in skill is easily made up in numbers.

"Look at Ghost's face! They're practically shaking in their boots!" One of them cackled, throwing their head back in a fit of laughter with their colleagues.

"I can't believe they weren't as strong as they have shown off to be," Another one chuckles, mocking my confidence showing off their muscular build. "Just another dumbass poser, trying to fit in the big leagues of civil society,"

What a shit start to my day! I shouldn't have taken on that request, I've gotten way too cocky with these quests but I can't help myself sometimes. Now I'm stuck here with my stupid ass captures until a clearing is open.

I stared out of my cell at the outside world. Children playing, adults arguing, seller's selling and buyer's buying, the perfect cover. Now all I need is a distraction, something that will get me out of here anything at all to help in aid my breakout. If I wasn't already so drained I'd pick those guys off one by one.

"GUYS HURRY TO THE FRONT, THE BRIGHT KNIGHT IS HERE!" One of their coworkers squealed and flailed from the door as they ran past the room.

"The Bright Knight is here! We've got to see him!" A lady knight pleaded with the others, pulling one of them out the room with her.

"We might not get another chance like this!" Another knight piped up, "Do you think we'd be personally promoted by him?"

"We should go and find out!"

Most of them seemed to agree and they started chanting "Bright Knight" as they marched out the room. Leaving all but me and one more knight left. He was staring intensely at me, recording my subtle movements without the blink of an eye.

"Aren't you going to see the legendary, Bright Knight?" I asked from my window bench, putting as much callousness in mocking his name.

The man shook his head, "We've been given strict orders not to let you out of our sight if we were to capture you. My fellow knights might have been so easily fooled in the beginning but I know your tricks all too well and I'm not leaving this room!"

I rolled my eyes and laid back against the cool concrete wall of the local jail, a small smirk tugging at the corners of my face. Not that anyone could see it with my black face mask covering it.

The knight sat carefully watching me as time slowly passed and while I ypically I don't mind being caught because I'll just leave during the nighttime or something but I've got things to do this morning like go to school.

"Hey, what time is it?" I asked, leaning my body against the cold metal bars of the cell. "I forgot my watch at home," Not that I wear one in the first place.

The knight stared at his watch and opened his mouth to tell me but then thought on it again, "It doesn't matter because you won't be leaving here anytime soon. Well unless it's to Innorexa," — the mass security prison for anyone with any magical abilities.

I sighed, "I'm already caught could you at least grant me this one thing,"

"Fine, if you'll shut up about it," He said picking up his watch, "It's a quarter to eight, now can you sit down and shut up?"

My body broke into a cold sweat, the later I am the more suspicious I become. It would be best if I left sooner rather than later.

I eyed the walls and ceiling for a breaking point, a crumbling section of the wall to break though. There was only a barred window but it was too thin and too high for me to fit through.
The cell itself was solid concrete minus the window and the bench which was made of iron. The only non-destructive exit was the locked gate. Typically I would've grabbed the key earlier before anyone noticed but it was attached to someone's hips and they left before I could grab it.
