I arrived home to a B.D.V. parked in the front yard. It was a wooden cart, led by a young but adult-aged horse. It neighed a bit as I passed it, tossing it mane in the air.
The front door was completely opened and so was the shed. I stood on the porch watching the two ravage around the house with creates and bags.
"Did you find everything?" Dad asked Sage as they met face to face by the front stairwell.
Sage sighed, "Just about. Although I don't know where Temmie went, they're not packed, and we need to leave soon,"
For what? I wasn't informed of a trip nor was I informed of Sage leaving. But Sage wouldn't leave me, right?
"They should be back soon. They did say something about talking with an old friend and depending on how it goes it could last a while," Dad chuckled dropping a box to his side.
"I know, I know. There's just so much I have to say before we just randomly get up and hit the road and-"
My body slowly gravitated into the house and I set the box beside the shoe rack by the front door. Both Dad and Sage turned my way.
"Temmie!" Sage's voice cracked, "Welcome home!"
She seems quite perky for someone who hiding something from me.
"Why are we leaving?"
Both of them went silent. "Technically it's more of a move," Dad tried to clarified scratching a rough patch of skin on the back of his neck.
"We're moving houses?"
"No. Sage is."
"What?! Since when?" I hadn't realize I had been screaming and demanding answer until both of them stopped to give each other a side glance.
"My father has fallen very ill recently. Now it's time for me to go back home so I can run the family business," she stepped towards me.
I moved closer to her until I was in her arms. "Do you have to? Can't you move the business here? Why do you have to leave?"
Sage chuckled and rustled my hair, "I get you're worried but I can't stay. This is a promise I made myself and my family and I'm not gonna break it,"
"That's a dumb promise besides they don't care for you as much as me and dad do,"
"Perhaps, but people who love tend to be foolish themselves," she laughed off but it only made my skin itch with how dumb it sounded.
"So that's it? You are obligated to your family and then you leave us behind,"
"Tem, we all have our aspirations and ambitions but occasionally to you have to make harder decisions to protect the ones you care about," Dad tried explaining to me but I pushed both of them away.
"But she leaving us!" I cried out leaving both my dad and Sage speechless.
I squeezed my body tight in a self-hug and ran upstairs to my room.
Sage was finally leaving us and I might not see her again. I can't understand how dad doesn't seem to care or anything. We should be trying to convince her to stay not letting her leave.
I sided and took a seat in my bay window. Vex squirmed up to me and sat in my lap as I scanned the front yard. I could see the two of them walking back and forth, filling the cart with an assortment of goods.
The more I watch them the more I feel left behind.
"Should I be helping Sage pack, Vex, or stopping them?"
Vex only looked at me, as if telling me, I already know the answer. I scoffed and turned away from him to continue to stare at the two of them filling the cart with every bit of Sage's belongings.
