It takes a while for duels to be set up but it only created more buzz for such a rare event. Apparently since it takes place outside of school and it's hours, anyone who can the journey is allowed to come to it. Including Sage, Trevor, Mei, and so many other witches of Black Sun City.
At the end of Friday, we all sat inside Mr. Lucas' room as he went over the rules and the order we were to fight in.
"Kendra, your fight against Vivianne is first. The Charlie, you and Wynter are next. Finally, Tem, your fight with Wyatt will be last,"
"And I'm guessing it's too late to back out," I sighed with my arms crossed tight over my chest.
I was leaning back in my chair with my feet on the desk.
"You agreed to it to help Wynter so think of it as a favor to a friend," Kendra attempted to comfort me, "Hell, that's why I even bothering to humor that psycho,"
"Wait what? You didn't have to. Beside won't makes being in your coven more awkward,"
"Nope! 'Cause I quit. I couldn't handle it anymore. Besides staying with a coven because they don't deadname me has its own bitter-sweetness to it,"
Charlie sighed deeply, resting xyr head against xe desk, "I hear you. I just quit the Beast coven because all the see is a runt of the pack. But just because I'm not as old as them doesn't mean anything,"
"So what you're saying is that both of you guys are covenless?" I asked and trying to imagine such an bizarre event. "And here I am thinking you guys were loving it,"
"It was alright but just because it was becoming tedious and overwhelming," Charlie sighed rolling a pencil across the table before evitably rolling it onto the floor.
The four of us watched it drop by Kendra's feet before swaying side to the other, then stopping. Kendra smirked a bit before impulsively kicking the pencil away from her and into the wall of the classroom.
Mr. Lucas picked it up and tossed it aside. "If you three are done I'd like to go over the rules,"
"Rule one: Any outside intrusions announce an end to the match. Rule two: all magic is fair game, including nullification, and mechanical magic. Rule three: penalties will be given to losers by the winners and by winner's choice with zero exceptions,"
"So basically anything can happen during and after the duel. Especially if we lose," I thought aloud my posture dropping.
"Well, most of you guys are well versed in fighting and so I'm less concerned about if you win or lose but rather if you'll give up from it," Mr. Lucas shrugged.
"Based on what we know of our, quote on quote, opponents, we could just bail and take the forfeit," Kendra shrugs, "It's not like I care what people say about me,"
"True, but if we do that we'll still take a pretty good beating. Plus won't it start raising suspension regarding, us," Charlie counter as xe gestured between us three.
Kendra sat back, pondering our options, "I still say we forfeit. It's not like will gain anything by winning,"
"We don't gain much from either of these options. Dad's right., if we do this we need to focus more on what we're losing,"
Kendra and Charlie stare at me with uncertainty.
"We need to win the duel. Vivianne has already got
a plan for us, win or lose. Wyatt's not gonna give up on 'defeating' me, win or lose. Wynter's proving himself by just showing up. He doesn't need a win nor does he care about a lost,""At the end of the day, we're the losers,"
"THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE WE DOING THIS?!" Kendra yells as she slamming her hands against the desk.
