My Responsibility

I sat on the roof of the building pondering all that's happened today. Wynter and I didn't speak much about it on the way back as if neither of us wanted to admit what we saw yesterday.
Can't blame him, there was a lot of everything yesterday. The Paradise Knights, the man that was beaten to his near-death, Wyatt being a bystander. If I wasn't forced to bear it daily I wouldn't be so energized right now.

In fact, it makes me want to go out and explore the night. Visit the town and talk some shit down at the tavern to rally the masses. Gather an army and head straight for the Capital.

It's almost funny to think I could come close to that but I do hope my efforts are never in vain. Not anymore. Seeing New Grace, this problem is bigger than just Black Sun and I don't want to see anyone else hurt.

"Hey, let's talk," Bright Knight stood over me, sword pointed directly at my chest.

Those burnt pitiful eyes glared back at me. It was normal to see but it all feels different like I'd reached a new height. It makes my heart race or perhaps it's the sword.

"Or what? Handcuffs don't work, I escape from jails, and it's quite unlikely you'll be able to catch me," I taunted him with a smirk.

He laughed aloud with a hand over his stomach. "You think that's gonna stop me. I know you won't stop and neither will I. You're strong but I'm stronger," His arm stiffens as hard as his words.

He was determined to beat me but is he willing to commit.

"Then let's duel. If you win, I will go to jail without complaint. Sound fair?" I say pushing his blade away with my staff.

He slumped back a bit considering my offer, "And if you win?"

"I don't know yet. A favor, I suppose," I shrugged standing to my feet.

I watched him stare down at the city considering my offer.

"What's the trick?"

"What trick?"

"You're a criminal-"

"Vigilante,"

"Either way, you're hurting others so why make a deal that's so one-sided. Unless you think you're that much better than me," Bright Knight puffed out as his aggressiveness hummed at the back of his throat.

Hurting others? I don't actually hurt many innocent people, do I? I mean if knights do it all the time what's stopping me from doing the same. Helping others by hurting was never my intention. If dad knew, I wouldn't be able to face him again.

He trusted me to be the Ghost Witch responsible but if it all comes apart I'll be reduced to just a child playing hero with magic.

"What's with the silence? Backing out now? Just admit it was a bad idea," He scoffed impatiently and swung his sword at me. "I figured you're in too deep now to give up,"

I dodged the attack with a quick tumble before quickly turning to face him. Bright Knight pivoted back with one hand on his hip with a gushy smirk.

"You have a point. We both have been at this for a year or two," I say before casting an invisibility spell on myself. "Talk about a productive way to spend our teenage years, right, little star?"

I started to circle him with undeniable ease playing at my heart. My heart strings a very jubilant grin onto my own face with excitement.

Knighty continued to smirk with a playful hmph of his own. He closed his eyes to sense his surroundings for me as I continued to circle him. Like a shark closing in on its prey and it's prey carefully watching for the shark.
