I did my job at the daycare center before moving on to a bakery closer downtown, and then a condo complex in the rougher area of the city.

Despite the number of knights they were easy to take down. Perhaps training new recruits although innocent people who don't fight back aren't really great to practice with.

I get taken down by old establishments and somewhat sketchy businesses run by even sketcher people but they shouldn't be attacking family businesses and places filled with preschoolers.

What's worse I can only imagine the ones that are out of my reach. The ones taken while I was at school, while I was having a rest day. I couldn't save them.

The guilt fills my spirit although I know it's not directly their fault but then depended on me and I let them down. I'm no better than him.

I reached up my arms in a big stretch pushing through negative thoughts to the back of my mind.

Suddenly something stiff and cold clicked around my wrists. I tried pulling my arms down but it was like it was trapped by another cuff.

"You've returned and you're alive, but you've let your guard down, starlight," His voice taunted me from behind.

I twisted my body around to look at him. He flipped his grip to let me face him. Although I didn't need his help.

"Starlight? Is that my nickname? It's kinda cute," I teased him with a smirk.

Although he could really see my face, he could feel my nonchalant attitude towards being called such a name.

He stared me up and down as if to check me out. It felt kind of invasive and awkward. But I couldn't do anything but let it happen.

"Yikes, buy me a drink first," I continued to tease but he only stared at me, serious about his inspection.

Bright Knight stepped back and looked me down one more time. Once he stopped he released the cuffs from my wrist.

"You're lucky I'm too upset to capture you," He sighed, pocketing the cuffs into his brown messenger bag placed at his side.

I saw something shift from the inside but I can't tell what it was. Perhaps a large book or maybe even a small animal. Perhaps another familiar like Vex, they are very common but often goes unnoticed due to the lack of time they can spend in the human world at once.

"I mean you technically did," I shrugged it off walking from between him and the wall to behind him.

He shook his head, "You would've found a way to escape here anyways,"

"I dunno, I'm not that clever, I just have failsafes but even then I can't always use them," I pointed out as his face tightened and his fist clenched.

He exhaled and started to walk off but before he left the alleyway he turned back to me. His eyes are a little more soft than before.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Ghosty," He smirked and my body froze as he ran off.

He was smiling. I wonder what's changed, was it because I was unwell? Or is something happening up the chain of command? Does he want to see the paradise knights fail as much as I do? Or maybe he's worse at his job than I initially thought? No point in questioning it now, better to move on I suppose.

Soon enough I let it go for it was the weekend thus marking coven days. Except I don't really have a coven, it's just more private training. Except it's only Sage, Dad, and me.

Kendra is an elite student of the Solar Flare coven. Solar Flare is specialized in fire and light magic, meaning she could easily burn down this town, maybe the kingdom, if she was more irrational. Although from what she's told me, she does more dancing than actual fighting which is pretty cool.
