I remained curled up in the tent for the rest of the day. Kendra and Charlie sat to the side while I consider my current reality, dissociating myself from the natural world, or perhaps it was the shock of it all. Was it too much? Did I do too much?
Our lessons were canceled for tonight's dance but I wasn't feeling like dancing or moving for that matter. Kendra and Charlie refuse to leave me alone right now and dad had come in a few times to make sure I was still alright before leaving to chaperone the dance.
Sora also stopped by and gave me a bar of chocolate that currently sat untouched in my bag. Which was nice but I think it's because he didn't want to feel uncomfortable for stumbling in on my pity party.
Moreover, I still didn't have the compass and completely lost in front of the only person who knows where it is. Not to be pessimistic but I doubt Lady Abigail would ever see me as anything more than a problematic child.
"Keke?"
"Yes," She said softly from the other side of the large tent.
"You were right," I muttered to her.
All I do is start pointless fights on a whim. Most times over nothing. But messing with the Jordan Lucas was unexpected for me. Although I could've handled the situation better. The principal is still an ass for talking to him that way.
"I know," She replied with a small grin on her face.
Charlie gave a disapproving look and bobbled xyr head at me but at this point, Kendra was happy to be right. In all fairness their exchange made me smile either way.
"Are you doing better?" Charlie asked and I nodded, "I think I'm just tired,"
"Did the crowd early today make you uncomfy?" Xe asked in a clear tone that still managed to help force a mound of guilt onto my chest.
I nodded slowly from the stiffness of my neck, still wrapped in my blanket, "How'd you know?"
"Well, it's not exactly like your a people's person beside you've been off your meds for the past few days. It's not too surprising," Charlie shrugged as xe stuffed a handful of candy into xyr mouth.
"It's more surprising that you were able to put two and two together," Kendra teased xem pointing xem in the side with her elbow.
"Hey, I'm plenty smart, I just can't read," Charlie sassed back with a bright, candy-dyed, blue tongue sticking out at Kendra.
My mind aches and I groaned throwing my body back and falling onto the floor, "I feel so bad. I just wanted to stand up for myself not yell at them, or slap them, now I'll never get the compass back,"
"It's not the end of the world," Kendra sighed before making a pause, "Yet,"
Then a spark of memory hit me and I sat up again. With the two of them here I had to share what I had seen earlier in the tunnel.
"So it was like a vision of the past. Along with the engraving, someone wanted us to remember what happened," I tell them sparing the tiny details.
My voice is lowered to a whisper and the two of them lean in closer with interest.
"It has to have been one of these guardians meant in the letter left in the box. It makes sense right, for a rune to be persevered for so long had to been done by someone with extraordinary abilities," Like a high role like a specialist or guardians, or even some healers.
"It would make sense. Are there any more notes that can help confirm it?" Kendra suggested.
I rubbed the side of my arm. "Well, except for the section Trevor opened, the rest haven't been opened,"
