Everything happened so fast. Kaito had lifted his cardgun up to his chin, determined to take what did not belong into this world. The pressure on his shoulders to finish what his father had started, the missing father figure for nearly half of his life, the constant need to hide himself and now, finally...
Credo in te
They believed in him, they knew it eased him to know he could end it whenever he wanted to, he just chose not to... but now they believed in him, gave him hope, it was okay to end it...
Right?
It was what he had wished for the most, to end all this horror in one way or another, and Kaito was filled with such confidence that it felt to him like a decision on what shoes he wanted to wear. It felt so easy. He felt like god, ready to blow out the candle of life for anybody that displeased him, and right now the only person that came to his mind was he himself.
He just had to pull the trigger and everything was over, and he had the support to do it.

The cardgun was swatted from his hands which got promptly cuffed; Kaito came back to his senses only a second later. Shinichi was holding his wrists, the same confidence shining in his eyes that he had felt before. It felt weird to see the detective like this, so weirdly dazed and in his own bubble of confidence and success.
Shinichi felt like a new man, capturing Kaitou KID. It was what he had wished for the most, to finally capture and get rid of that white clad annoyance and yet, he did not want to hand him out. It felt... just so good to slap those handcuffs onto him and finally stop him, keep him in place, not let him escape.
"Meitantei?" the thief asked in front of him, almost worried, and Shinichi found himself snapped out of his inner maniac rambling. He looked down at himself and at the handcuffs he had forced onto KID, then looked up with a lopsided smirk.
"Gotcha."
KID rolled his eyes, not very amused, and with a single movement the handcuffs slid down his wrists onto the ground.
"Glad you're back to reality. That was... unnerving, to say the least."
Shinichi glanced over at the cardgun a few meters away and then back at KID before pictures flooded his mind and sapphires grew wide.
Did KID just... try to kill himself...?
Kaito frowned just the slightest as he turned to pick up the gun, letting it disappear into his pockets. He didn't quite know what had happened and right now, he was not keen on finding out either.
"KID, are you-"
"I'm fine. Don't worry. Where is Pandora?"
Shinichi let out a huff. Of course I wasn't worried, idiot thief.
"Your partner? Gone, I suppose."
"So is your partner."
"He was a client."
Shinichi looked down onto KID's leg, thoughtful. Maybe it had helped him the same way it had happened to Shinichi himself.
"Is your leg doing better? You have been limping since a while."
Kaito frowned and stood straight almost the same second, yet was surprised to find a welcoming lack of pain coming from his knee. Well at least something was going well right now. Shinichi was satisfied to see the slightest shift in his demeanor.
"We need to find them."
"Don't you say. Do you have any ideas, Meitantei?"
Said one shook his head, already glancing around for any clue that might help him. His thoughts were running wild tho, and he felt so, so disturbed by what he had come to deduce.
This curse was connected by those three words, Credo in te. It held the meaning of 'I believe in you', in Latin. It was the explanation of a few couple hundred murders throughout history, and while he found that hard to believe it somehow made sense if you looked past the mortality of mankind.
Those three words, spoken by this specific individual, had raised a god complex in whoever heard them. The belief and hope to do anything and everything, to be god amongst men, and rush to accomplish what they most desired. Under the influence people did crazy things...
Shinichi still had his client's words ringing inside his mind.
'You didn't go for murder, Kudo-kun. Thats... interesting.'
The detective shuddered, imagining the true meaning behind those words, and KID was the prime example. The confidence and will to end life as it came... KID wasn't suicidal, and yet Shinichi remembered the look of his face with such detail that he had no doubt on the action upon the idea. If he hadn't smacked that gun from KID...
A shiver ran down Shinichi's back. No.
Better not think about it.
KID was oddly silent behind him, quietly watching the detective and his musings. He looked deep in thought, and Kaito knew better than to disturb him. Indigos lowered towards the handcuffs on the ground, and Kaito fell into his own thoughts. Why did Shinichi not drag him instantly towards the police station? If he was right, and this hypnotism forced one to act upon their strongest wish, Shinichi should have been hauling him to Nakamori-keibu.
It was... weird.
"...Meitantei?"
"Hm?"
Shinichi turned to face his company, a tired expression on his face.
"I believe we have come to the same conclusion... How about a temporare truce?"
A smile tugged at Shinichi's lips as he gave a small nod, slowly cocking his head to the side.
"We need to find the both of them... It's strange but both are dangerous to society."
"Someone who can inflict a bacterial disease onto mankind-"
"-and someone who can drive someone's mind into absolute destruction. We... need to find them as soon we possible."
The lookalikes nodded at the same time towards each other, both had the same opinion. There was no way they could let Pandora roam freely among the city as it was.
"Did you catch the name of your client so far?"
"It was part of our agreement that names weren't going to be mentioned. I apologize."
"I see..."
That was going to become difficult.
..or... not. Kaito's face lit up and he took a step forward.
"I have an acquaintance who can locate Pandora. I will notify them and inform you once I have pinned their location. They are most likely together right now..."
Shinichi nodded, satisfied. That was a plan he could agree to.
