I woke up early the next morning and realized I was so tired I didn't even try to get into bed. I shook my tired legs to wake them up, then waddled down stairs to see if my mom was up. As I suspected, she was.

"Good morning!" I said cheerfully. I sat down on the other side of the table and immediately saw my letter. "Can we go to Diagon Alley today? It's probably going to be real busy real soon," I said calmly, not wanting to upset her.

She didn't even answer, she just pulled the newspaper so I couldn't see her face. Angry, I snatched the paper which caused it to rip in half. My mom looked up at me and I could see the tears in her eyes. I could tell she was hiding something. Her jaw was clenched tight and the tears, that was a clear giveaway.

"Why don't you want me at Hogwarts, mom and answer for real this time?" I asked. I knew she wasn't telling me the whole truth before, but I never pushed to far. Today was different, though. Today she seemed extremely worried.

"It's just that I don't want him to..." Her voice trailed off and she looked down at her feet.

"Don't want who to do what?" I asked nervously. I've always loved a good mystery and if she didn't tell me it would eat me from the inside out.

"Nothing," she said a little to quickly. "Why don't you go get ready so we can go to get your school supplies."

Hearing that switched my attention back to Hogwarts. I gave my mom a kiss on the cheek and skipped upstairs.

I looked in my large mirror that was sitting on top of my dresser. My blue eyes seemed almost electric compared to my waist length dirty blonde hair. I put it in a side braid, like everyday, and moved on to picking out what to wear.

I decided on some skinny jeans, white socks, brown combat boots, black t-shirt, army jacket, and an apple red scarf. I was surprised with how well it turned out, but hurried down stairs.

My mom wasn't ready yet, so I grabbed my letter and looked over the list. I honestly didn't need anything other than robes, a lot of books, and a cauldron.

"Ready?" My mom asked in a way less cheery voice than I would have hoped for. I nodded my head. As we headed out the door I grabbed my small black purse and shoved my list and a reasonable amount of money.

I was so ready to be a Hogwarts student. This year was gonna be great!
