ALI’S POV:

I have been hearing Kyle’s voice in my dreams. I’m calling him back but he’s slowly drifting away. He’s crying. I know he’s crying, but why can’t I be there for him?

I scream for his name at the top of my lungs then suddenly, I gasp as my eyes are now wide open.

While panting, I still hear the echoes of Kyle’s voice as my eyes roam around the room. I’m confused. This isn’t Kyle’s room.

This looks like Father’s room in the kingdom. Are Silim and Kyle playing their pranks on me?

Then my eyes widen in shock. . .

There’s the small painting on Father’s table I personally made for him for his birthday two years ago.

This really is Father’s room!

What am I doing here?

I immediately got up and look for Kyle as I walk out the hall.

Until I reach the King’s hall and see Father.

“Father?” I call him, with my voice somewhat weak, hoarse and shaking. Must be because of long sleep.

He freezes for a couple of seconds and looks back at me with widening eyes but with a grin.

“Ali!” he says as he walks towards me. I walk to him more and he embraces me tight.

“I thought you’d wake up in twenty days more,” he says lowly as we break from our embrace.

“Why? What happened to me?”

“The air in the city almost killed you, Ali. And it’s all because of those humans!” he says with quite a grit.

My eyebrows twitch. “Humans? Like Kyle?Where are they, Father?”

“Why would you be looking for them, son? They’re murderers!”

“What do you mean? They’re not murderers. . . In fact, they love me. I love them. I love Kyle.”

He steps back a little. “Love? Should love be killing you, then?”

“But I’m not dead, Father. And if you’re telling me that the air in the city almost kills me, and you expected I’ll wake in twenty more days, why did you think I woke up now? It’s because I heard Kyle’s voice calling for me, Father. I heard him and my ears, my heart reacted until I opened my eyes.”

“You just don’t get me, Ali,” he says quite frustrated.

“Tell me, Father, so I would understand,” I answer with respect.

“You and him should not be together! A fairy and a human in love are forbidden by the Law of Nature. You two are in two different worlds!”

I can feel I’m almost out of breath about Father hindering the two of us. I try to recompose myself and take a deep breath.

“I think I have read about this in the Royal Library,” I say calmly. “There’s an exception about this law, right, Father?”

He shows a worry and walks close to me. “You can’t convert, Ali! You’re the prince! You’re next to the throne!”

“But I want to, Father,” I answer as I smile. “I really want to. . . For Kyle.”

“You can’t run away from your destiny, Ali! I forbid you from converting!”
