“Uhmmm, Dad?” Kyle starts the conversation again. He looks at his father. “Do you mind me asking, who told you about me having a boyfriend? Was it Selena?”

Kyle’s father shakes his head, “No. It’s not her. It’s Ketron.”

I, too, am stunned as Kyle and Silim are. I can’t believe he could do that. After all, I believe he love Kyle so much. Kyle is still silent, but there’s a hint of irritation in his eyes.

“I met Selena before going here. I asked her first if what Ketron said was true and she said yes. But she told me Ali is a good influence to you, Kyle. She has never seen you so happy before. Not until you are with Ali. At first I didn’t believe it. But when I saw it with my own eyes, she certainly is right. I can definitely see how much you love each other,” he continues.

Awwww, Selena. You aren’t really selfish. You really love Kyle up to the point that you have accepted his decision. I know that you can’t hear my thoughts right now, but you’ll certainly hear it when we meet again.

“I knew Ketron’s a troublemaker,” says Silim. It is more of like an outburst of his thoughts. “I knew it the first time I saw him.”

He finds Dad looking at him with a blank face and he instantly feels regretful and bashful that he bows his head, his view straight to his plate.

Kyle and I have the same reaction—trying to restrain ourselves from laughing. Suddenly, Dad smiles and laughs at Silim. “I was just making a joke, Silim,” says Dad in between his laughs. “I didn’t think you’ll fall into it. It’s a great joke, isn’t it?”

We then let out our laughter except Silim. He straightens his head and looks at us one by one. He wears a blank face on. Sort of like a lost child, actually. A few seconds later he starts to tilt the ends of his lips upward until it turns to a smile. “I don’t know which part I should laugh. To your ‘joke’ or to my reaction,” he says then laughs. I think his laughter is a sarcastic one. I think he just did that to make Dad believe his joke is funny.

“But seriously, I can’t believe that Ketron just really did that,” says Kyle calmly.

I nod my head in agreement.

“Well, maybe he’s just concern about you, Kyle and he wants to update me, too. I believe he means no harm,” Dad replies.

“Maybe, but I don’t think so, Dad,” Kyle answers. “If he ever says something about me again, Dad, call me, okay? You don’t need to deal with him, Dad. I’ll face him myself,” he continues.

“Are you two in a fight, Kyle?” Dad asks.

“Not really, it’s just that. . .” Kyle is hesitant. What is he thinking? “He’s pursuing me, too,” he continues.

I didn’t think that he would say it to Dad but he just did. Dad is evidently surprised, stunned. His face is confused.

“He was pursuing me. Until he learns that I love Ali and not him,” says Kyle with a low tone. “I guess he was mad.”

Dad takes a few good seconds being silent. Probably understanding the situation. He then smiles and ruffles Kyle’s hair. “Who could not love you, son? I mean, you’re a great man. And you have already made your decision. You’re happy with it, too. Let him take his time and ways to move on. You know that when a person loves, he’s doing a lot of nonsense things just to get what he wants. I see you two are way stronger than him. You both fought for your love even when I tried to separate you. So who is Ketron to break you apart? I’m here. I’ll be protecting you two,” Dad says.
