Silim’s POV:

“Where have you been, Silim? Why’d you let this happen to Prince Ali?” Ipil scoffs as we carry Prince Ali to the Healer which is at the back side of the castle.

“I’ll tell you later, Ipil. Let’s just focus on reviving Prince Ali for now,” I answer calmly yet my voice’s shaking.

“Let’s just be sure the King won’t learn about this,” he says sternly. “Or else, you know what will happen to us.”

We walk at the far side of the castle to ensure no one can see us and finally, we reach the Healer’s Hub. We’re frantically quick. As soon as we knock on the door, it opens and it reveals the King and the Healer. The King! We are caught red-handed. My eyes widen in surprise, my mouth agape as the King’s eyebrows almost touch one another. Then, his eyes suddenly turn to worry.

“Is that. . . Ali?” he asks quite softly as he walks over to us.

I take a deep breath and I know what I must do. “Yes, your Highness,” I answer in an urgent manner. “It’s all my fault and please, let us help him.”

He does not answer but he walks over to Prince Ali and carries him alone. His eyes are still down. He brings him to the Healer.

“Healer, please, save my son,” the King begs.

Ipil and I stand there by the door. I rub my palms together in unease.

The Healer makes a circular motion with her hand while she closes her eyes. Her hair glows and when she opens her eyes, they glow as bright as her hair does.

“The air!” she cries in an old creaky voice. “The air almost kills him. Just a few minutes more with that killer air and he would’ve been killed.” Then she utters her rituals, “Waishiii. . . waishiii. . . Feliyaaa. . .” she repeats this until the wind suddenly becomes strong that it could almost put us out of balance. But good thing I hold on to the knob of the door and I hold Ipil in place, too.

The glows on the Healer’s hair and eyes disappear. My eyes travel to Prince Ali and he’s still not awake.

The King quickly comes closer to Prince Ali and holds his hand. “Why is he still asleep?”

“The air damaged him too much, your Highness. My ritual amended his heart but his lungs are still weak. He needs a minimum of twenty days of rest before he’ll wake,” the Healer answers.

Tears start to well up on the King’s eyes as he says his thank you to the Healer. He then commands us to carry Prince Ali into the King’s room so he could rest and he could take care of him.

He then commands us to put our presence to the King’s Hall. I stiffen at the commandment and assume this is the part where we receive our punishment.

Ipil and I are kneeling before the King.

“Explain,” he says quite calmly yet full.

I straighten my head to look at him in the eyes. “It’s all my fault, your Highness. Ipil has nothing to do with this. I let Prince Ali go into the city, which I do know for a fact that it’s a danger for us.”

I feel Ipil’s hand holding my arms.

The King stands up and his eyes are sharp. “If you knew this would happen, why didn’t you stop him?” he says, almost a shout.

“Because it’s the first time I saw him being genuinely happy, your Highness. He found his true love. He has found his wife. He found a human to love and I can’t stop him from being happy and being in love.”

“He was happy but his life was put to grave danger. Is that what love suppose to do? And a human? That’s the most pathetic thing I have ever heard of.”

“My apologies, your Highness but loving a human isn’t pathetic. It’s not a mistake loving someone even if it’s to a human.”

“But fairies and humans don’t mix, Silim!”

“I beg to disagree, your Highness.”

“You saw what happened to Prince Ali and that’s what happens when you love humans. It’s also the Law of Nature that fairies and humans should never ever eclipse. It’s forbidden!”

“But. . .”

“Stop it, Ipil. . . Call these you call humans here this instant. I need to talk to them.”

My eyes dilated and I stiffen. “But isn’t it against the law, your Highness?” I almost choke.

“Now!” he yelps.

I quickly stand up to my feet and enter the portal to call Kyle.
