"YOU WENT AND SAT IN GARRET'S CAR, ALONE, JUST THE TWO OF YOU?" Hanna asked with an incredulous expression on her face from her usual spot in the back of the car.

The four liars were sitting in Spencer's car, parked across from the former Fields residence, waiting for Emily to emerge back from inside the house. Whilst the girls were waiting in a tense silence, Spencer explained that she had only gone to Garrett for more information. Aria had found a vase, or some pottery, inside Mike's closet – from his recent criminal activity – which proved that Garret was more than friendly towards Jenna.

The girls were starting to get the feeling that they couldn't trust anyone anymore.

"I didn't know where else to meet him." Spencer rolled her eyes. "It wasn't like I could ask him that stuff down at the precinct."

"How did you get away from him?" Valerie asked, looking away from the navy front door to look at the Hastings girl.

"When Aria sent me that text, I told him it was from my mom, that she wanted me home asap." Spencer said with a panicked expression as she showed the girls her trembling hands. "Am I still shaking? I'm still shaking."

"Yeah, we're all shaking." Hanna muttered, wrapping her arms around Valerie shoulder after she leant forward between the two front seats. "Can you turn on the heat? You could make a slushy back here."

Valerie exhaled as she leant forward in her seat to to dashboard to turn the heat on, feeling the warm air blow out of the car vent on her skin. She sat back against her seat and turned so that she could see the rest of the occupants of the car better.

"Guys, why would Jenna give him that lantern?" Aria mused.

"You don't know that she gave it to him." Hanna muttered, from beside Aria.

"What do you think, he bought it at the blind artists' crafts fair?" Valerie stated dryly. "Of course, she gave it to him."

"The question is, when did they become buddies? And why?" Spencer added harshly, nodding in agreement with Valerie

"Spencer, they grew up across the street from each other." Aria reminded, the girls as she looked down the road towards their neighboring houses. "His parents still live in that house."

"Maybe he's just bringing raw meat to Jenna's cat." Hanna muttered with a small shudder.

Valerie rolled her eyes incredulously. "Hanna you really need to start thinking before speaking."
