Leaving home.

Sook ja and her older sister Han ja always talked about sook ja going away to the palace and leaving home when she was 16.

Now it felt like a dream. She couldn't believe it, sook ja was finally leaving. "I know we have talked about this so many days when we were younger but I would never imagined you'd be leaving us."

Sook ja lived with her mother and her older sister. Her father had passed away when she was just a baby so she'd never met her father. "I bet your father would be so proud of you to be working at the palace." Her mother said.

"Don't worry you two I will be just fine. Try not to miss me too much I will be too busy serving the king!"

Her mother and sister laughs. "You have grown up so well."

Sook ja never told her mother about what happened when she was younger because she never wanted her mother to worry but of course she told her older sister.

"Don't fall in love with the king remember!!! You're only going to serve the king everyday!!!" Her sister said.

"Bye bye!!"

Sook ja took her things and left waving to them she was being escorted with 3 other maids who were also going to be new working maids at the palace. The guards would eventually come to escort All of them after their application was approved.

She was very excited. It was a honor to serve the king and be able to live and work inside of palace walls. However she knew that once she entered the palace she'd probably never be able to leave it again which is one thing she never told her family.

That's just how things were she'd promised on her application to serve the king until the day she died. She wasn't going to be able to go and come freely as she pleased in and out of the palace because after all she was just a maid wouldn't be anything special.

She had finally arrived into the palace with the other girls after being escorted.

They were going to meet the king first. Sook ja sighed nervously. It has been 4 years since she saw the king. He was only just a prince she wondered if he was still the same kind hearted person he was like when she first met him when he saved her life on a spring day.

Did he even remember the promise he made. He was also the reason she came to the palace in the first place to meet him again like they promised when they were young.

The Eunuch said out loud. "Your majesty the new maids have arrived."

"Send them in."

Sook ja and the other maids walked in.
