Today is my coronation. I'm as nervous as heck. I mean it's not like I was prepared for this like Snowdrift or anything. The servant tosses a maroon cape on my shoulders, and clasps it with its golden hook. He embedds garnet in my scales which is as painful as heck, I'm half tempted to take the ring off to melt them but I think that would be even more painful. I shudder at the thought.
He escorts me to an area behind the throne room, where I am to wait until they call me in. "Chin high, look confident," he advises and walks out. Snowdrift and ShiftingSky come in and wish me good luck, I smile and thank them, then they walk out of the dark little room. I pace around and finally they call me in. Chin high, look confident. I hold my chin high, not too ridiculously high but enough to make me look confident and not nervous and scared like I really am. I walk down a red carpet embroidered with gold designs. I smile and wave at the audience.
Snowdrift watches him walk down the scarlet carpet, looking confident. I watch from the front row, which is only a dragon-length from the carpet. He makes his vows. "Do you promise to put your tribe first?" The priest asks. "I do," he says with a heartbeat of hesitation. The audience doesn't notice and they continue to the crowning. Blah, blah, blah. They place the crown on his head. "I present to you, your officially new king, King Falcon!" The priest declares.
At the feast they seat us way at the end of the table, opposite of Falcon, because there are lots of more important people than a queen, right? Falcon walks down over to us. "I've been meaning to give you your coronation gift..." he says. Then he gets down on one knee(or well as much as a dragon can) and takes out a gorgeous tourmaline ring. "Will you marry me, and rule the Skywings with me?" He asks. I gape. "Y-yes! We can rule the Skywings and Icewings," I reply. He smiles and slips the ring on my finger. "Don't worry, it's animus touched so it won't freeze to your scales and it turns off your frostscales," He says. I realize he is wearing his opal ring and I hug him, which tips him over. I pull away. "I never got you a coronation gift, I'll think of something," I say. He nods in understanding. Everybody is staring, which of course would be normal. They start muttering things, which I'm guessing is about me being their future queen and that stuff. Falcon sits down next to me, on the floor.
There was a party that lasted all night. It was rather overwhelming. Servants came around with platters of food, the place was packed with dragons. There were tons of glowworms and flowers and other things that glowed and it was a full moon so the moonshine streamed in, but oddly there seemed to be less stars in the sky. It was beautiful but it was crowded, so I stay on the very edge where there is only a few dragons.
There's a magician who claims to be an animus named Cloud. I watch and snort at his fake little magic tricks. He pulls one of the torches out of the wall and starts juggling that. Of course, he drops it and it ignites the rug. I jump onto the fire and roll on it, using my frostscales to put it out. He snorts. "An Icewing wow, I thought all of them moved away." He says. "Oh, we did but I came to get revenge on my mother, Queen Silvermoon's death," I reply. "Wouldn't that make you Queen of the Icewings? No, you're lying there is no way," he argues. "I am Queen of the Icewings, just like I am your future queen," I say. "Ha, King Falcon is too young and would never choose an Icewing," he says. "You wanna take it up with him?" I ask. "Err, maybe," he says. "You know what, you'll see our wedding in a moon or two," I decide. "Okay, but what about proof that you're the Icewing queen?" He asks. "I'm sure it will be mentioned at the wedding, bye," I say and walk away.
Falcon walks up to me. "What was that about?" He says and entwines his tail with mine. I look over at Cloud who is gaping at us. "Nothing," I reply. "So, uhm, the priest wants to have the wedding tomorrow," he says. "What?!" I exclaim. "We were just engaged, you're king tell him no," I argue. "Well, he traveled a long way, away from his family and he wants to get back to them as soon as he can," he says. I frown. "Can't he just go back and come back for the wedding?" I say. "The journey is over two moons," he says. "Fine," I growl.
