Wings of Fire: The Ice and Stars prophecy

Chapter 3

I walk into the dark damp cave. "Aqua?" I call. The transparent dragon emerges from behind a large rock in the back of the cave. "Yes, young dragon?" She asks. "I-I want to find the Opal," I tell her. "Let me guess, you found out about their power?" She guesses. I nod. "Well, there has been evidence of them near the Wing Islands." She hands me a map. Then she walks back behind the rock in the back. "Okay, so no tips or suggestions?" I say.

I reach into my bag only to realize that the coral isn't there. I pick up a shard of the shattered rock that the Rock of Onyx was originally in. I enchant you to help me find lost things. I walk out of the cave to find night setting in. A dark, starless night. The stars started disappearing moons ago, and now there are only a few twinkling in the sky. And since it's dark I will have to stay on the island. To my left are some small mountains and to my right a patch of trees. I decide to camp in the trees. I hunt down a fox and eat that. Than I choose a nice thick clump of leaves to sleep in.

I sleep little that night being awoken by loud rustling and owls hooting and coyotes howling. The night seemed to last forever but finally the sun finally shone throught the cracks in the mountains. I get up and stretch my wings and I take the map out of my bag. The Wing Islands was made out of hundreds of islands and they look like a flying dragon. I teleport to the island on the tip of the right wing.

I searched twenty five of the islands with no luck.

I teleport to one of the islands that make up the head of the dragon. The island is mountainous and pretty big. The mountains glitter orange and pink in the sunset as though they were embedded with morganite and tourmaline. I doze off for a moment looking at them. This will probably be the last island that I search today, since its getting late. I walk around the island and make my way inward. I stop. Talon tracks. I follow them and they lead into a cave. The cave is dark, so dark it's nearly black. Then suddenly it wasn't. Glittering stones were embedded into the walls and they looked almost like stars. The cave started widening and widening until it was a large cavern.

There was a throne in the middle of the room with a dragon, and it was no dragon from Pyrriha. Moonlight streamed down at her from a crack in the top of the cave. The dragon was a beautiful amber and lime green. "What and who are you?" The dragon on the throne asked. "A-a Nightwing, and my name is ShiftingSky," I stutter. She frowns. "What are you doing in my kingdom, and not in Pyrriha?" She asks. "Well, I-I-," I start. "They sent you didn't they?" She asks. "Who?" I ask. "The other clans," she replies. "Yeah, kind of, they want me to bring you back, wherever that is," I say. "The only reason they would want us back is to use us, again," she says. "And I need your help, my friend's kingdom is melting and I heard that you could help?" I ask. "I'll think about it," she whistles and a silver and gold dragon emerges from a cave in the back. "Escort her to one of the guest rooms," she says.

"Who is she?" I ask the silver and gold dragon. "Queen Amber," the dragon says. He turns down a hall and then opens a door. "Here we are," the dragon says. I walk in. "I never did catch your name," I say. "Sterling," he says. "I'm ShiftingSky," I tell . "Well, I hope to see you again, ShiftingSky," he says and walks back down the hallway.

And we do. He comes and escorts me back to the throne room the next day to hear Queen Amber's decision. When we walk in she is splayed across her throne picking at one of the gems. "Thank you, Prince Sterling," she says. Prince? I glance over at him. "I will restore your friend's kingdom, but I need something in return," she says. I think for a moment. What can I give her? She has so many gems I doubt she needs anymore. I'm not a queen, I can't give her land. "I-I will give you my magic."
