(Gally X Reader) Gally - Love, Nightmares and Tiger stripes

Part 2 - Test It!

Y/N's POV

I woke up a little earlier than usual and it wasn't light outside yet. I decided to get ready and watch the sunrise so I hurried on my shoes and pulled on my clothes before leaving my hut.

I walked out to glade and admired the peace and quiet before anyone else was awake. It was autumn and it was quite cold and I huddled myself together for warmth.

"Are you cold?" I heard a familiar voice behind me.
I smiled "A little" I replied to Minho as he came and sat next to me. Minho usually woke up early because he was the keeper of the runners and he had to be ready. The two of us talked for a while before going to get breakfast.

I got my breakfast and sat down next Chuck.
"Hey, how are this morning?" I said smiling at him.
"Good, thank you Y/N" he smiled back at me and we talked and laughed over breakfast.
"We have to go now" Minho called out to the runners as they started to leave to go to the maze. I said bye and he waved back at me before descending into the maze.

Slowly everyone started to leave to get on with their jobs. I looked around and saw Gally staring at me, his eyes looked soft and sweet.

I was just about to get up when Gally sat down right next to me. "Oh, hi Gally" I beamed up at him. "Is everything OK?" I asked kind of surprised because I didn't see him coming.
"Yea, I'm fine" he said scratching his head. He smiled "so I'm scary am I?" he asked with a cheeky grin spreading across his face.
"Very" I joked standing up.
"Hey, can I ask..." Gally was cut of by Albi. "Everyone get to work!"

I went to the medhut ready to start the day of work. I began by making all the beds in there and making sure they were clean. The Medhut was a mess, one of the slicers had fallen inside there yesterday and knocked everything over, so I had alot to do that day. Not including if someone needed medical attention. I spent all morning cleaning and tidying up.

My job wasn't usually that time consuming unless someone was hurt. So I often did other jobs around the glade aswell. I mainly helped Chuck and the sloppers or Newt in the gardens. Sometimes I helped the builders because I were small and light.

"Y/N!" my thoughts were interrupted by Gally who poked his head round the door before coming inside the medhut. I looked up from where I was crouched on the floor picking up bandages. "Lunch is ready" he said. I stood up and brushed my hands on my thighs before walking towards the door. I looked over at Gally, he was looking at me smiling but he looked a little confused. He was acting a little strange today.
"Oh, sorry. This morning you were going to ask me something" I turned to face him, I said this not realising he was right behind me. He looked down at me with caring eyes. Our bodies were inches apart. I smiled up at him waiting for an answer.
"Lunch!" I heard Fry call from outside.
"Oh, it's fine" Gally said as I made my way to lunch.

I would usually sit with Mihno at meal times but he was always running so I sat with Newt and Thomas. I was really good friends with them aswell but I preferred to spend time with Minho. Fry joined us aswell.
I listened to them talk, I didn't really feel like saying much. I looked around at the other boys, Gally was staring at me again. I looked back at him giving him a taste of his own medicine. He laughed to himself still continuing to look at me. I rolled my eyes jokingly and looked back to the boys.

I got up after lunch and walked back to the medhut to finish clearing it up as it was still a mess. Gally ran up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. "Y/N, we need your help on the roof" he said. The roof of the medhut had been broken for a while, it hadn't been a problem during summer but now it was getting close to winter and it was leaking.

I walked to the back of the medhut.
"What do you need me to do?" I glanced over at Gally before looking back at the roof.
"We need you go on the roof, one of us would do it but it requires a person on each side. And that side (the damaged side) won't hold our weight" he said.

He gave me a boost and I climbed onto the roof, he soon followed and I reached out my hand to help him up.

Gally and I talked and laughed with the other builders. I didn't do much actual building but I held things in place for Gally and helped pass pieces of wood back and forth.
"And... Done!" Gally said moving his hammer. "Test it!" he said guestering at me.
"What?" I asked confused.
"Jump on it, test it, go on" he laughed. I stood up and jumped on the spot of the roof that I had just fixed. We both laughed until we heard it creaking. Gally grabbed my arm pulled me into him.
"Let's get off here" I giggled and he helped me off the roof.

I went back to the inside of the medhut to finish my cleaning. I had just got it all clean when I dropped the last box of bandages.
"Oh shuck" I sighed and kneeled down to try and clean it again.
"Do you want some help?" Gally said stood in the doorway. Before I could answer he walked over and knelt down to help me.

"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure" I replied looking over in his direction.
"What happened last night?" he stopped what he was doing and looked at me.
"Chuck had a nightmare, I was helping him" I said.
"But... why?" he sat down properly.
"Look, it's hard being in the glade for everyone. Having nightmares are horrible but we all have them, I do".
"You do?" he simpatheticly asked me moving a little bit closer.
"Of cource I do, anyway on his first night I saw him having a nightmare and I went to comfort him. I felt so bad for him, he's alot younger then any of us. It's not fair. I wanted to help him, ever since then, if he had a nightmare, I told him to come get me and I'd help. I love helping" I said smiling and I looked into his eyes. He still looked confused.
"Honestly, I just want to help. And I know what it feels like to have awful nightmares, and I can't stand the thought of anyone else feeling like that. I want to be the person that people go to so they don't feels scared. Anyone, Chuck, you." his eyes flashed over to me as I said this.

It was silent for a while but not awkward.
"Minho will be coming back soon, I'm gonna wait by the maze" I said picking up the box of bandages and putting them away before walking out the door towards the maze.
