"Blue is for beautiful if you live in Shadyside. Red is for radiant if you live in Sunnyvale. Despite our differences we're all perfect!" One of the counselors is announcing while handing out T-shirts for this year's color war. I'm thrown a blue shirt which is Shadyside's color.

"Thanks!" I yell before spotting Ziggy walking to the cabin angrily.

I follow her into our cabin which is empty at the moment.

"You should really get Nurse Lane to check that burn out." I said as I closed the door behind me.

"Maybe I'll just let it get infected and die." She spat back

"Look, you didn't hear this from me, but Nurse Lane has been acting kind of strange today. She might appreciate some company." I said trying to convince her. Ziggy and Nurse Lane were really close. I think that because apart from me, Nurse Lane was the only person who was really nice to Ziggy here.

Ziggy finally budged and we headed over to Nurse Lane's cabin.

"Nurse Lane! Hello?" Ziggy said as we walked in

"She's in trouble again, help." I added

"Nurse Lane help, I could die any minute now."

"Maybe she's in here?" I say noticing a door that was left slightly open.

Ziggy and I open the door and walk inside of Nurse Lane's office. Ziggy starts to look around and so do I. As I look at the desk I spot a book which is open to a page with a news clipping paper clipped to it and next to a picture labeled "Witch's Mark."

"Ziggy come look at this." I say.

Ziggy walks over and peers over my shoulder at the book.

"What are you two doing?" A woman's voice asks starling us

"Oh my god" Said Ziggy

"Jesus." I then said

"Nurse Lane you scared the shit out of us." Ziggy said laughing it off

Nurse Lane stood for a moment with an unreadable expression on her face. She looked sad but also lost in thought. Ziggy seemed to notice as well.

"Are you okay Nurse Lane?" I asked her

Nurse Lane sniffled a bit almost as if she had just been crying. "I am. Oh my goodness. Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy. What did we do now?" Nurse Lane said changing the subject

"Sunnyvalers. They hung her by her wrists and burned her arm. Can you believe that?" I asked as Nurse Lane led Ziggy into the actual patient room of the medical cabin.

"Sadly, I can." She said before sitting Ziggy down and handing her a small container of medicine

"Okay, so you are gonna apply this once a day for three days. Okay? It's gonna protect against infection."

"It's gross." Ziggy said referring to her burn

"You'll survive." Nurse Lane responded

"So, about the Witch's Mark.." I said "What is it?"

Nurse Lane stopped for a moment and looked at me

"You both know about my daughter, right? Ruby Lane?" She said

"Uh.. I don't-" Ziggy started

"Of course you do. Everybody talks, I know. Tell me, what do they say?" Nurse Lane asked us

"Well um.." I look at Ziggy

(TW: this part has a sort of graphic description of a murder and has a very brief mention of suicide)

"They say she, uh.. she killed people.. at a party. Seven, seven friends."

"Eight. She killed herself that night too. So eight. Ruby was such a sweet girl. Oh, and she had a sweet voice. She was in choir. She wanted to be a singer. I was so proud of her. So proud." Nurse Lane said

"Nurse Lane I'm sorry if we-" I started to say

"The doctors say it was a psychotic episode, that she just snapped. But the kids... the kids say Sarah Fier made her do it."

"That's a little tight-" Ziggy remarked as Nurse Lane began to bandage her arm.

"What do you think?" She asked me

"I don't-"

"'Cause I think you don't go from being a sweet girl with dreams to ripping someone's insides out with a switchblade."

"Nurse Lane." Ziggy said as Nurse Lane kept tying the bandage around her arm tighter

"People usually kill for a reason, and sometimes that reason is justified. Sometimes killing isn't murder. Sometimes it's necessary." Nurse Lane continued

"Nurse Lane that's kind of hurting me." Ziggy said

"Sometimes it is good-" Nurse Lane said still continuing

"Nurse Lane!" This time Nurse Lane snapped out of it realizing what she was doing.

"Once a day for three days, okay? Y/N make sure she actually does it." Nurse Lane stated changing subjects

Suddenly the bell on the door rang and the three of us looked over to see who came in.

"Hi Nurse Lane." Cindy said with a smile

"Hi, Cindy." She replied as Ziggy stood up

"Y/N Tommy wanted me to come get you, he's waiting by your cabin." She said

As I walked passed her she kept her eyes on Ziggy. I opened the door and before I left I heard Cindy say

"Ziggy." In an accusatory tone. Uh oh she's in trouble..

I walked outside and made my way across the field and over to my cabin. I saw Tommy waiting for me.

"Hi Tommy, what's up?" I asked as I approached him

"Care to tell me why Kurt pulled me aside and told me that if you get one more strike you're getting kicked out of camp? Was it because of Ziggy?" He asked me

"What? No- I mean kind of, but we didn't do anything. It was those Sunnyvale assholes." I told him

"I know. I just told Kurt I'd talk to you. If you get sent home your mom will kill me, just putting that out there."

"Ah well actually I was just about to go put piranhas in the lake in hopes that they'll eat Sheila, so better start writing your will." I say jokingly

Tommy laughed then changed the subject "I saw you with Nick Goode earlier. Kurt told me he was the reason you two are still here."

"Stop looking at me like that, I didn't go to pound town with Nick Goode if that's what you're asking."

"Ew. Forget I said anything-" Tommy started to say before he stopped and looked lost in thought for a moment. "Um.. did you say something?" He asked

"No I... are you alright Tommy?"

"Yeah, sorry, it's already been a long day I guess." He said before saying goodbye and walking off to help Cindy clean.

I decided to go and start reading the book Nick had lent me. I grabbed it out of my cabin and left to sit on a bench out in the field. As I'm flipping through the pages I notice all of the annotations Nick had made. While reading the beginning of the story it was nice to read his thoughts on certain parts.

"Good book?" A familiar voice asked

"Are you stalking me?" I said sarcastically as I met Nick's gaze

"Yes, I am actually, took you long enough to find out." He said sitting down

Just as he sat however Tommy's voice rang out from the main building Cindy and him were cleaning.

"Someone call an ambulance, it's Nurse Lane!"
