Mia's POV:
"Mia, where are we going?" Elizabeth asks as we walk further into the dense woodlands. It's summer time so the ground is soft and the trees and plants make for a picturesque setting for a date.
"You'll see, it's not much further actually." I say and hop over a laying log. I then turn around and take her hand so she doesn't slip by accident. She takes its and steps over cleanly.
"Thank you. We've been walking for like 10 minutes." She moans and I look back at her hunched back and bent knees. She does look tired so I take pity on her.
"It's been 3 minutes and I can give you a piggyback, if you'd like." She smiles in relief that she can finally take weight off her feet. I lower my body and she hops onto my back. Im the bigger one so it's not hard for me to carry her for the little way we have left to walk, or I do.
I support her legs, which are wrapped around my hips, with my hands and her arms are lapping over my shoulders so she doesn't fall backwards. Just having her body close to mine gives me butterflies in the pit of my stomach.
I walk the last little bit before we reach the top of the hill and we can finally look down at the view I found so amazing. "Wow," she says as she looks across the city of California with the sun dipping sightly just above the horizon.
"I know, it's beautiful isn't it?" I say and placed her gently on the floor before she hops off and walks to the edge.
"It's amazing. How did you find this place?" She asks me and flashes me the greatest smile this world has to offer.
"I was just walking through here one day and I stumbled on this beautiful view, and I thought you'd like it." I say and she turns her gaze from me to the distant city in the background.
"I love it." She says and takes my hand and leads me to the edge of the hill and we sit. I sit with her between my legs, my arms wrapped tightly around her stomach. Her hands are latched onto mine and we both look out at the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
We sit there in silence for a while. But the silence is calming and tranquil, all I can here is the soft inhales and exhales of my girlfriends lungs. And there is no place I'd rather be, and there's no person I'd rather be with, here and now.
"Ellie, I love you." I say and kiss the back of her head while she looks out at the orange glow that the dipping sun is casting on the city.
"I love you too, Mia. I'm so lucky to have you, and I don't want to ever leave your side." She says and turns her head around and I can see the orange glow of the sky bounce off the sparkles in her emerald eyes. I smile and kiss her lips softly.
We sit in the comfortable silence for a little while longer until the sun is gone, and with it it's warmth. So when Ellie shivers I take that as a sign it's time to go home.
"Would you like to come to mine? Esther has being dying to see you again." I say and she looks at me surprised. Esther is my mom, and her and Liz get along so well, and even seeing them together makes my heart melt.
"Yeah, I'm pretty hungry so I wouldn't mind getting something to eat." She recommends and I remember what my mom cooked for dinner.
"My mom made that risotto dish you like to steal at lunch." Elizabeth loved to steal my food from my packed lunch as school. When I'd bring the leftovers into school and she'd steal them. That was one of her favourites to steal.
"Really, I don't have to eat it cold anymore?" She asks enthusiastically and swivels around in my arms and faces me.
"No, as long as mom cooked enough you can eat all of the risotto you want baby." I say kiss her forehead gently.
