Mia's POV:
Summer had finally arrived, and the sun had finally come out to play, wrapping us all up with her warm and brilliant rays. It had been an unusually cold winter for us here in California, so it was a relief to see that the weather hand reverted to its normal way.
I planned to tell Elizabeth that I loved her tonight, or should I say this evening. I had a really romantic night planned. We would go and watch one of her favourite movies, but it would be outside, in a field where daisies would grow and the only sounds would be the movie and the distance sounds of the nearby trees cavorting in the wind.
I'd been plotting this for a while, wanting to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted, and more importantly, exactly what she wanted. We've been growing closer over the winter. Seeing as we couldn't go out without freezing, we stayed in a lot, which led to some adorable moments.
She would help me with the cooking, I would teach her some Russian, which she got surprisingly got at. Not enough to have a conversation but she could pick up on some words here and there.
I was walking around her house right now, ready to spring this date on her. I had some wine that Ashley had gotten me in my backpack and some little snacks that me and my mom prepared.
I knocked on their door with a chirpy tone and awaited for someone to open the door. When I saw the faint outline of a person behind the tainted glass in the door I put a jovial smile on my lips, hoping that it was Ellie.
It was in fact Mary-Kate to open the door, her joyful smirk dropping from her face. "Oh, it's you." She says sarcastically.
"Oh come on, you act like you don't like me but really you love me." I say, stepping past her. She kisses her lips in disagreement with my comment.
"She really does. Speak about you all the time... 'Mia this' 'Mia that'." Ashley says from the kitchen table, eating a bowl of fruit.
"We'll, I would love to speak about how great I am but I'm here for your sister." I say and see Ashley open her mouth. "No, not you. Not MK. And not Courtney." Her mouth shuts and she goes back to her fruit.
"She's been cooped up in her room for the whole day. I would say good luck getting her out but... Y'know." Mary-Kate trails off.
"Why's she been up there?" I ask, slightly conceded that she hasn't left her room. I can't help but wonder if somethings wrong.
"Your guess is as good as ours." MK answers, taking a seat opposite her sister at the island.
I head up the stairs to where her room is and take a breathe before opening the door. I've, unfortunately, had the pleasure of dealing with things when Elizabeth gets mad, and because no one will go near her it's always me that has to calm her down.
I knock on the door and for a second it's quiet. "Go away I don't want fucking fruit!" She yells from behind the door.
"I have something better than fruit." I say casually, a slight hint of flirting in my voice. There's some shuffling before the door swings open and I can see all of the mess that is her room.
"Jesus Christ, it looks like a bomb has gone off in here." I say, the bed is messy and the pillows and duvet are on the floor.
Her makeup table is a shambles, brushes and lipsticks strewn all over the place. The closet is wide open and the contents is strewn all over the bed.
"It might as well have." She says, her voice trained, telling me that somethings wrong, or upsetting her.
"What's wrong babe, you see stressed out?" I ask her, taking her arms and rubbing them up and down. I can see the tension in her brow dissipate at the look of nervousness vanish from her face.
