y/n watched as something changed in izuku's attitude, moving completely differently from before. it was as if he now had a glimpse of hope in his eyes. the boy had a plan.

the pair of junior high, rival, friends, charged towards eachother, their intent completely different. hope glimmered in one. despair reflecting in the other.

as their are about to collide deku yells at the top of his lungs "detroit smash." and turned his are upwards, revealing the floor that held the weapon, iida beside it.

y/n understood his ideas immediately, getting to her feet, her legs still wobbling beneath her.

come on.

memories now flashed in her mind, flicking through them like a book. the things that would push her to get up.

the entrance exam.

a draw.

the quirk assessment test.

a draw.

she would not allow this to end in anything other than a win for herself. she couldn't let him win.

y/n wasn't egotistic but this ending in a loss would sure as hell change that. the smug look bakugo would give her if he won, it made her blood boil.

"not today."

as she was getting up, deku had received another one of bakugo's explosions, sending him back into one of the pillars.

the sight of the small green haired boy being beaten so much he could be dead pushed her more. midoriya had really give this all he had. she couldn't lose it now. not for her, not for them, not for him.

bakugo stood confused for a moment, looking above himself to the hole in the ceiling. something in his mind clicked, and he turned to the girl he had left defensives on the ground. but his eyes locked with only pieces of rubble, and the empty spot on where she once sat.

he caught sight of her wings before she disappeared to the floor about. and with luck her eyes locked with iida's before he could do anything.

the blonde shook his head in disbelief, watching the interaction that would cause him to lose. he tried to move, but his body wouldn't, not in time.

"iida, step to the side for me." she spoke sweetly, her voice soft and soothing. and expectedly he did as told, moving away from the weapon.

her damaged wings pushed her forward towards their goal, but she kept her crimson eyes on iida's.

as the rough skin of her beaten hands came into to contact with the cool metal she tore her eyes away from iida's, breaking him free from her control.

her body still felt limp, weak. her wings faltered, leaving her body to fall slowly from the top of the weapon.

"catch her." all might ordered through the ear pieces, all four students hearing his voice clearly.

and with that a pair of bare arms were quick to catch her, saving her from colliding with the ground.

"thank you iida." she spoke, eyes opening expecting to meet with big, deep blue eyes.

"not iida." a voice huskily grumbled, dropping her from his grip and letting her hit the ground below him.

y/n's eyes peaked open for a moment and saw the beaten blonde above her with a scowl on him face. "thank you." her smile was genuine, with her being truly grateful for his actions.

y/n could have sworn she spotted a light pink hue creep onto the cheeks of the boy, but her eyelids became to heavy to open for her to confirm her suspicions.

"don't expect it again." he muttered, kicking his foot against the rubble of the floor.

he had honestly expected you to gloat immediately. he had lost, outsmarted by his rivals. but her words took him by surprise. so much that his lips slightly curved upwards before he quickly stopped them, gross.

after all he did only do it because all might told him too.

right?
