Chapter 3: At Least Somebody Cares

Normal POV

Amy is now in the principal's office who had just finished answering his questions about the fight in the cafeteria. She was really sad and scared that it's her first time ever being in a fight and being in detention. The principal was really disappointed what Amy got herself into.

"Sir I would never get into a fight but I was just trying to protect Shadow from Scrooge and his dumb sidekicks. And please don't punish Shadow. He did nothing wrong and everyone hates for no reason.

"I understand that Shadow is having a really hard time at school and I'm always on his side but he did destroyed a table and punched Scrooge so he has to be punish including you Amy."

"But that's not fair! Scrooge and his gang are the only ones who needs to be punished!"

"Sorry Amy but that's the way it has to be. You and the others have a detention after school and you'll be with Shadow in a different room Scrooge and his gang don't do anything bad to you two. Do I make myself clear?"

"*sighs*Yes sir. Can I see Shadow in the clinic please?"

"You may....you have until the end of this period."

"Thanks."

Amy walks out of the office to the clinic which is just down the hall to her left. She opened the door to see Shadow laying on a bed wearing bandages sleeping peacefully. Amy got into the room and picks up a nearby chair and places it next next to the bed. She sits on the chair looking at Shadow sleeping.

"Shadow doesn't deserve to be treated this way. He's a kind and innocent person but he always gets bullied for no reason and nobody doesn't do anything about it. I have to do something about this and I'll start by starting to hang out with him but we can't let anyone in this school see us doing that. And...Shadow looks so peaceful when he sleeps and...so cute. Wait....what am I even thinking! Snap out of it Amy you're just...tired that's all."

"Amy?"

Amy got out of her inner thoughts to see Shadow have woken up looking at Amy. Amy smiled at Shadow happy that she can talk to him.

"Are you feeling any better Shadow?"

"Yeah I'm good enough to go out after school."

"That's a relief. Speaking of after school me, you, and those idiots have a detention."

"What?! Oh man my dad is going to destroy me when I come back home!"

"I know and my mom will probably ground me for a month."

Amy now noticed Shadow is shaking in fear which made Amy very worried.

"Shadow don't worry. I'm sure you'll get through the punishment your father will give you."

"No...you don't understand what my father is Amy. He'll abuse me!"

"Is that why you always come to school with black eyes and a lot of bruises? Your dad's the one who gave you those injuries?"

Shadow looked at Amy with tears in his eyes and he started to cry. Amy rubbed his shoulder comforting him with a sad look on her face. Then the school bell rang meaning that 4th period is over. Shadow started to calm down a little wiping his tears away and looks away from Amy

"Amy...you should go to your next class before you'll be late and don't worry I'll be fine."

"But you're not fine especially when you get back to your house. You don't have a great father and you need help."

"I appreciate you caring about and that you want to help me but I don't want my problems get in your way."

Shadow then looked back at  the pink hedgehog with a serious look on his face.

"I never told anyone else but you that my father abuses me and I don't want anybody to know that. So you must promise me not to tell anyone about it."

"But Shad-"

"Please...you're the only person in this planet I can trust."

"*sighs*Okay I promise...I'm going to be late so...see ya after school."

"Bye...oh and Amy?"

Amy was about to go out the door but stops and turns back around to Shadow.

"Yeah Shadow?"

"Thank you...for being there for me back in that fight."

Shadow smiled for the first time in forever and Amy smiled back.

"You're welcome."

Amy closed the door behind her as she exit the room while Shadow went to sleep.

When Amy went to her 5th period class every student fell silent and looked at Amy. She ignored them and just sat on her seat. Rouge sat next to her with not the same look as the other students have.

"So...where's Shadow?"

"He's in the clinic resting. He'll be out by the end of school but he'll be on detention with me."

"*shocked*YOU'LL be in detention?! That's a first. Everyone is seriously talking about the fight you got into. They're spreading the word by publishing the videos and the pictures."

"Oh man...I'm screwed for sure."

"Why did you tried to help that loser Amy?"

"I beg your pardon?"

"Shadow is nothing more than a worthless mutt and he should've been kept being kicked by Scrooge and his friend. Do you even see that everyone in this whole world hates Shadow except for you?"

Amy got up from her seat and slams her fists on her desk.

"How could you say such a thing to him?! How could any of you jerks say such things about him?! Shadow is having a much hard life than you think and he never trusts anyone even himself! Do you see how sad that is? He needs help but none of you even give a crap and don't even bother to!"

Then suddenly the school bell rang and everyone just go back to their seats when the teacher comes into the room. Amy just sat back down with an angry expression on her face. Rouge was shocked of what Amy just said and just didn't talk to her for the rest of the period.

"I can't believe how cruel people could be..."

Hello everyone!!!!! I actually can't believe that Spring break is finally here and that the 3rd quarter is over and the 4th quarter will begin next week. I can't wait till this school year is over cause the next school year I'm going to be in high school!!!! I will publish another chapter somewhere after Spring break so please enjoy the rest of the Spring break cause its just beginning.
