She knows - A Ziggy and Nick story

The phone call

"You want to visit the Goodes?", my mom asked with confusion in her voice.

"Yes. Nick and I were good friends back at camp." I smile broadly. I feel weird smiling this big. She sighs at me. Giving up on further questions.

"Alright. I'll call Mrs. Goode. I'll tell you what she says." I thank her gratefully and exit the room. Well, pretend to exit the room. I hide behind a wall waiting for her to call.

She stops finishes cutting the tomatoes and grabs the phone book. She flips through the pages and points at one. She goes to the phone and dials the Number. She puts the phone to her ear.

Bring! Bring!.....Bring! Bring! Bri- "....hello! This is Rachel Berman, Christine's mother.......Yes a very long time....neither can she *laughter* ...yeah she was just wondering if she can stop by and see Nick...... She can come over for dinner?.....yeah of course! She would love that!....Invite some of his friends as well? I would think she would be cool with that.....6:00pm tomorrow?....Alright I'll tell her....ok...will do!....Alright goodbye!....bye!"

I had a quiet celebration. 1 step closer to finding the truth. I pop out from my hiding spot. My mom jumps from my sudden appearance. My smile is nine yards wide.

"So I'll take that as a yes?" We giggle at my question. She turns around and cranks on the stove.

"Yes, Ziggy, yes. You are going to dinner tomorrow."

I jump in excitement! I yell a thanks and begin to run up the stairs! "OH! And Ziggy?!" I stop at the sound of her voice. "Wear a dress. Look a little presentable."

"Fine!" I yell back down. I run up the stairs and fly into my room. I was ready to know more. This was my time.
