Ch. 8 Always be your true self

Liam and Zevon walked through the crowded streets as they headed to their destination. The two males soon reached Gaston's Duel Without Rules, a hunting shop mixed with a fun place to duel other people. It is also where Liam and his family live, but they live next door to the shop.

" I'm back!" Liam calls out while stepping inside his home, with Zevon following behind him. " Zevon is also with me," He informs his family.

" Hey," A masculine voice greeted Liam and Zevon.

Liam and Zevon stopped walking, and they see Liam's two older brothers, Gas and Ton, staring at them from the living room since they were watching TV.

Liam's blue eyes intently stared at Gas' blue-green eyes.

" Hey," Liam responded with a slow nod.

Gas akwardly stared at Liam as he stands up, and he walks towards his younger brother.

" Look. I have always hated you-," Gas bluntly speaks.

"-I am aware of that-," Liam sarcastically mumbled.

"-And I know I almost killed you," Gas gently and firmly puts his hands on Liam's shoulders.

Liam tensely stared at Gas.

" But, I was only jealous because Dad gave you so much attention. He only pays little attention to Ton and me," Gas mumbled.

Liam silently stared at Gas, letting his elder brother continue to speak.

" I thought taking your life would make Ton and mine's lives much better. But, I know I would have made Mum, Gil, and even Dad depressed," Gas mumbled.

Liam uncomfortably stared at Gas since he didn't know what to say to his elder brother.

" And I know I would have felt so much guilt afterward," Gas whispered while tears welled up in his blue-green eyes.

Liam's blue eyes widened since he is shocked to see tears appearing in Gas's eyes.

" I am aware you are leaving to Auradon today. But, I hope you have the heart to forgive me for all the constant bullying I made you suffer. I know you are more courageous than me," Gas softly speaks to Liam while his blue-green eyes briefly linger at his younger brother's scars on his face since the other male nearly died to save Gil when they were younger.

Liam pulls Gas to a hug, and his hands tightly grasped the back of his shirt. Tears welled up in his blue eyes since he isn't sure when he would get to see his big brothers again now that he will live at Auradon.

Zevon curiously stared at Liam and Gas as he begins to wonder if his potion is wearing off. He, for sure, thought Liam would punch Gas for nearly killing him.

" Please. Please. Take good care of Mum, Dad, Ton, and Gil for me?" Liam softly asked with his face hiding against Gas's shoulder.

" I will," Gas reassures Liam as the two brothers let go of each other, and Liam then turns to Ton.

" Ton," Liam calls out, seeing Ton hold his arms out to the other male.

Liam walks up to Ton, and the two brothers hugged each other.

Zevon akwardly stared at the brothers since he is not used to seeing affection in person.

" My babies! I am so happy that you all have made up. The only one missing is Gil, but I know he will meet up with us soon," Claudette calls out while entering the home from the back, carrying four wooden baskets full of now clean clothes.

Liam and Ton let go of each other as they, including Gas, turned to look at Claudette.

" Mum! Let us take that for you," Liam, Ton, and Gas walked up to Claudette, and one by one, they took the wooden baskets from her grasp.

Zevon akwardly coughed, causing the family to turn their attention to him. He has known Liam for many years, but he still finds his childhood best friend's family dynamic strange since he and his mother, Yzma, aren't like them.

" I suggest we all head to the entrance of the Island since Liam has to go," Zevon informs the family.

" Yes!" Liam nods his head as he and his two older brothers carry the wooden basket up the stairs to their bedrooms.

Gas and Ton dropped their laundry off in their bedroom while Liam dropped Gil's laundry in their shared room.

Liam was about to leave, but he stops when he sees dark brown luggage lying on his bed.

" That's for you," Claudette calls out while entering Liam's bedroom. " I washed all your clothes and packed all of your personal belongings in that luggage while you were out with Gil," She explained.

Liam's gaze softened as he turns around and stares at Claudette with a mixture of emotion.

" I am going to miss you so much!" Liam cried while walking up to Claudette and pulling her to a hug.

Claudette hugs Liam close to her as tears welled up in her green eyes.

" I am going to miss you so much as well," Claudette whispered as the two let go of each other and intently stared at one another.

" Liam," Claudette gently placed her hands on Liam's face. " Always be your true self," She tipped toed and kissed her third son on the forehead.

Liam closed his blue eyes as tears started to fall since he will miss Claudette so much.

' Always be my true self,' Liam tells himself as he slowly nods his head, wanting to continue being his true self to make his parents and those he cares about proud of him.

Liam slowly opens his blue eyes as he fondly stared at Claudette.

" Let's get going," Liam softly smiled as he walks away from Claudette, grabs his personal belongings, and he then leaves his bedroom with his mother.

Zevon watched Liam and Claudette walk down the stairs, with Gas and Ton following them. He frowned when he sees Liam cheerfully yet sadly stare at his mother and brothers. He is glad to see his best friend happy, letting him know that his potion has worn off.

' Drats! As always, I am not a talented Potioneer,' Zevon tells himself sounding disappointed, but he smiled when he saw Liam looking at him.
