I know the last chapter was a bit much for Chloe but it's exactly what happens to most of the nightclub workers. I have done my research and I watched tons of documentaries to get the stripper part right. I wanted to show what actually happens to workers in these situations, didn't want to sugarcoat it with clichéd mafia romance. I really didn't want to take that route with my story.
The things these girls go through are truly heartbreaking.
I take a lot of my writing inspiration from real-life events, like Chloe's early pregnancy part was just exactly as it happened to my cousin. She went through early labor at six and half months.
I wanted to portray the nightclub workers' life right. Wanted to do justice to the adversities they go through.
I didn't want to make it like "Oh, she was the most beautiful girl Andrew has ever seen, from the very first sight he fell for her. He was a monster to everyone but her."
