Chapter-22 Another scent

"You sure you can manage?" I asked Luna for the hundredth time today. How can I not when she has an ankle fracture? Not to forget those scratches. When she wore her frock, her knees looked like shit completely scratched, patched up with band aids.

"I'm fine Luke," she smiled.

I opened my door and went to her side to help her get out. She already got a walking stick, which is better than her walking with nothing.

"Here," I lifted her up by waist, handing over the walking stick.

"Thank you," she mumbled positioning herself in the stick. I reluctantly let go of her waist.

Why does she have to be so stubborn?

Why couldn't she accept my offer and take rest?

"Bye Luke," she smiled.

Hell, how could she smile when she is all banded up like this?

"Call me if I'm late but don't leave without me." She chuckled and nodded. She still has my other phone, of course she refused it but I am more stubborn than her.

Dropping Luna at the bakery, I left to the vampire village to investigate on the killing case. All of them had a pattern, all of them were stabbed somewhere in their stomach like they fell onto the sharp end of jasper wood.

The killer should have set up a trap long back before the victim could even go there, that's why there is no scent. And for that the killer must have been observing the victim for long else how could they set the trap so perfect?

The killer planned everything, all of them bled to death in a place where they won't get any help. The sooner I solve this case the better. But the problem is I have no clue about the killer. If they killed any ministers or their family members, we can say it's someone who hates the ministers like me.

This is completely different, all the people died have no resemblance or relations. Maybe they have and we don't know about it yet. And that is what I'm intending to find today.

"Carter," I said as soon as my best friend picked up my call.

"Send me the address of the dead vampires, I'm here at the village to investigate."

"On the way."

"Good," I cut the call before he could talk some bullshit about Luna. I don't know why he hates Luna. I've been with people before too but he hasn't said anything about that. But this? I wonder what's he thinking for him to hate her.

Carter mailed me all the address. I went to the first house that's near me. It was a female victim; I wonder what the killer had to do with her.

"Your majesty," an old vampire opened the door.

"You know the reason for my arrival?"

He shook his head looking at his foot, no one will dare to look at the king's eye while speaking. "Are you here because of my daughter's death?"
