Chapter-30 Mine

I talked to my mate, like that hooded guy mentioned, I talked to my mate assuming that she will hear me. When I talked to her, I felt something. I don't know if it's my brain cheating me or the bond but I felt some overwhelming emotion which is not mine. And that only made me want to believe his words.

Carter was still searching for her. After he got to know that she's my mate, he's been beating himself up blaming how he failed to take care of his future queen. That's the thing about us vampires, we are loyal as hell. And it's the reason why the vampires are still ruled by a single king unlike werewolves who were split into tiny packs.

I'm currently working on the death mystery. After hearing from other victims' family, I realized that the killer has no pattern. No matter how much ever I try, there's no common reason. There's no relation among the victims, all of them are totally different.

It just makes me wonder whether the way I'm proceeding is wrong. The only thing I'm sure is that all the ten people were killed by jasper wood aka by bleeding to death. What I don't understand is that how the killer killed them on a week span of time.

"Your majesty," Victor bowed in front of me.

Victor, the chief investigation officer of my kingdom. He is one of the best, not even a single particle could hide from his intelligent brain. Even the practiced killer will be caught easily by Victor just by him investigating the place of incident.

The worst part about this case is even he couldn't find the killer. He's been working day and night on the crime scenes and haven't found a single clue to lead us any further. A few days back I told him about my doubts, about the pattern of jasper wood. But I realized that he knew about it and was already working on it. I know that guy is a genius.

I wonder whether he found any clues or evidences.

"Continue," I nodded. He raised from his position and kept the file he had in his hand on my table.

"I think there's a secret cult behind this kill. I've calculated the distance between the crime spots and the time of death. There's no way a single person could've travelled so fast and set the trap."

I looked at the map where he drew everything with extra detail. He didn't speak waiting for me to study the map. Sharp guy.

I studied the map and he is correct, three kill happened in a span of an hour and all the three spots are separated by a distance of 50-70 kilometer.

I raised my head and looked at him to explain further.

"Also, all the victims have nothing in common. So, I think the cult have some ulterior motive. For now, I don't have anything more than this but I'm trying to track how they got hold of jasper wood. Our kingdom holds the majority of the woods but there's a dealer from the north who sells them at an unimaginable rate. I've set a meeting with him. I'll soon update you the progress."
