Chapter-39 One step closer

I messed up everything. What's wrong with me? Why did I hurt the only person who could ever love me?

'He'll love you till he sees what a monster you are,' a voice reminded me.

I can't, I don't have it me to see him hating me. I'll leave before he could see what a monster I am. The deal I made with Elijah was for thirty days and only have around 15 days.

Luke didn't speak anything as he left me in the bath tub without even taking a look at me. But still, he prepared warm water for me. What did I ever do to be blessed with such an amazing mate?

I could feel his pain and anger. He is in pain because I decided to give up on the bond so soon and he is angry at the fact that he couldn't do anything about it. I don't know if he'll understand too once I say the truth.

Talking a warm bath, I decided to speak with Luke. I would rather accept his scolding than this silent treatment. Walking inside my room, I went straight into the cupboard and wore Luke's shirt. I know vampire are territorial just like wolves too, they love their mate in their dress, maybe it'll calm Luke a bit.

I took a deep breath before standing in front of the door. "Luke," I called him, making their heads snap at me.

I waited for his acknowledgement but my mate is stubborn and he just looked at me instead of responding. I hate his silent treatment.

"We need to talk," I spoke after the deadly silent.

I went and sat down on the corner of the bed as his friend left the room. He was leaning on the head board, his hands cross with a serious look. Luke didn't speak anything and I knew that he was waiting for me to speak.

I closed my eyes trying hard to not get hurt by his coldness, he has a reason to be.

If it wasn't for the curse, I wouldn't have left Luke. Who knows we would've even marked each other? That's when I realized that Luke has already marked me while saving me. That's the reason why we were able to speak with each other, it's the bond that brought us together.

To mark a person, you just need to consume each other's blood. Unlike werewolves, you don't need to bite each other out. Every species has a different way of marking, for us it's the consummation of each other's blood and it's the mark for wolves.

Every species marking changes as per their basic trait. Werewolves are humans who could turn into wolves, so they bite each other, marking their territory and for us vampires, it's the blood. We live by feeding blood, which is considered sacred so if mates consume each other's blood, they'll be bonded for life.

Luke fed me his blood to heal me and by so indirectly marking me, I wonder whether he realized it or not?

He grunted his throat bringing me back to present. I smiled at his childishness, he looks like a kid who fought with his parents and was on a strike trying hard not to talk.
