chapter twenty-three

I woke up in the morning. Nick was sprawled out across the bed. I roll my eyes. I nudge him a little bit to get some room and grab my phone.

He moves around a little bit, but I don't think he woke up. I scroll through twitter. I like some fanart of me and Sapnap from last night's stream.

Nick stirs on the other side of the bed again. He turns around and sees me. He smiles. "Good morning."

"Morning. You ready for breakfast?"

"Always."

We get out of bed and go to walk out of the room.

"You took up so much of the bed. You probably would've fallen off the couch." I open the door.

"Hey you offered, so you can't complain now."

I laugh as I walk through the door, but I stop as soon as I see Alex.

Alex is in the kitchen eating cereal. At the moment, he's actually stopped chewing the food in his mouth as he stares daggers to the sight of Nick and I walking out of the bedroom.

"What the fuck?" He says flat out.

"Alex, it's not what it looks like.." I say softly, although my face does feel hot.

"I thought you guys went out early or something, but, apparently, you were living it up in your bedroom, huh, y/n?" Alex cuts at me.

I take a shaky breath. I didn't think he'd be bothered by this.

"Alex, chill out, dude," Nick cuts in, "the couch was just super uncomfortable, so she offered to share her bed."

"And you accepted?"

"Don't you dare make this sound worse than it is," I give Alex a pointed look, "Nick, could you go into the bedroom for a minute?"

"You sure?" Nick seems nervous to leave us alone.

"Yeah dont worry."

Nick goes to my room and closes the door.

"What the fuck, y/n?!" Alex repeats.

"Don't act like I didn't do the same thing when you came. Remember that guest bed?" I angrily point my finger to his room.

"You didn't do it on the first night!"

"Well that's because I didn't realize how uncomfortable it was till later. You're really blowing it out of proportion."

"I don't think I am!"

"What has been your damn problem, Alex?"

"What are you talking about? I don't have a problem." He puts both hands on the counter, gripping the edge.

"Ever since I asked if Nick could come, you've been acting different."

"That's ridiculous. No I haven't."

"Yes you have! You've barely acknowledged his existence since he's been here."

"Well he's not my guest. You made that clear when he slept in your bed."

"He's both of our friends Alex!" I let out a frustrated groan.

"So you're going to tell me nothing happened last night?"

"Nothing happened last night." I repeat. Nothing happened. Why is he being such a jerk about us sleeping in the same bed. Don't Alex and i do that all the time too? "Why do you even need to ask that?"

"You're so clueless sometimes, y/n." he mutters under his breath.

"Whats that supposed to mean?" I shout a little louder than intended. Why is he so against everything that I do lately.

"You just don't get it, do you? You never see it between anyone, ugh, y/n, you make it so complicated if you dont notice."

"Notice what?" I grit my teeth as I ask.

"You know what? Nothing. Absolutely nothing." He goes into his room and comes back out with a hoodie on. "I just need some time to myself." He slams the door behind him.

"YOU CANT SOLVE YOUR ISSUES BY RUNNING AWAY ASSHEAD!" I shout through the door.
