Dib POV

"What?" Katheren asked, causing me to blush embarrassingly.

"AH! I mean- I- Uh-" I stuttered, trying to find the right words to explain what I meant.

Katheren puffed out small laughter, but she didn't truly laugh. Just the part when I was stuttering.

"S-Shut up..." I mumbled, still blushing.

"I'm not sorry," She said, kindly smiling.

I looked away, still flustered and not saying anything.

"Okay, okay, don't give me that look," She said, waving her hand.

I eventually smiled, and we soon started laughing. Not psychologizing but more genuine.

As soon as we died down, we sat down onto our usual bench and sighed.

"What now?" She asks, looking at the sky.

I knew what she was referring to, but I didn't have any answers. I still had to 'live' with my family and get over everything else. I didn't know what to do.

Katheren got the message and didn't question me anymore.

"Dib, you can call me Mom if you want," She said, finally looking at me.

I was ecstatic but then started crying. However, it was tears of sadness; it was tears of joy.

I hugged her tightly, taking her over and over again.

She was a bit shaken up, but she just let me have it.

'Thank you...' I thought, knowing that she is truly someone amazing.

After a few hours of being with Katheren, I was forced to leave.

I didn't want to, but I knew that I had to keep the appearance of the 'miserable, neglected' kid.

When I arrived at the house, I had a strange feeling. Like it was telling me that something wasn't right.

I opened the door quietly, and I saw everyone in the living room.

I was about to walk away slowly, but Gaz looked at me before I had my chance to escape.

"Dad, he's here," She angrily mumbles, clearly emphasizing how much she hated me.

I would have been hurt, but I wasn't, not anymore.

"Where were you?" He asks, clearly not happy either.

"I was out," I said, simply telling the truth.

"With who?" Zim asks, not even bothering to look at me.

"None of your business," I naturally replied while rolling my eyes.

"No, I saw you with someone, Dib. A female goth chick, who was she?" Gaz asks.

"None of your business," I repeated.

"Poor girl, she must have been under your influence," The Professor said while getting up.

"However, there's a chance for her to see the truth!"

I was antagonized, but I kept my cool.

"I mean, it's true; she doesn't deserve to be hanging out with someone like you," Gaz smugly said.

My hand completely turned into a fist, but I still had to act cool.

"Unfourtauntly, the Gaz-beast's not wrong," Zim implied.
