-REMI

I didn't end up going to Ivory's last night because my dad went out to a bar anyway. Instead, me and Ivory texted all night about who knows what.

"Do you ever like talk to yourself and pretend you're like famous or something?" she asked me.

I walked into school the next day excited to see her. I already missed her and I saw her yesterday. Ive never felt like this before. I wake up with butterflies in my stomach thinking about her. I think of her as I fall asleep, wake up and just anytime during the day. It might sound weird but I can't get her off my mind.

"Ivory, hey I missed you," I say as I see her in the halls. Her hair was thrown up in a messy bun. I could tell she had makeup on.

"Hey Remi, I missed you too," she replies half dead. She smiles as she talks to me about how tired she is but how worth it this was. We go on for ages as we walk to class about how nice it is that we are close. As she's about to go into class I pull her into my chest and hold her tight. I hear her giggle into my shoulder.

"Cutie," she whispers to me. I kiss her good bye and head off to my own class.

Ive been thinking about asking her out. I mean we've already kissed and we hug and talk every day. But is this too soon? What if she ends up breaking my heart? What if she sees the real me and leaves me?

I get to my class where I see Krysti. I go to the back to sit with her.

"What do you think about me asking Ivory out?" I asked her urgently.

"Well, hello there I'm great thanks for asking," she says sarcastically. I roll my eyes and we laugh.

"Guys calm down back there," The teacher shouts back at us.

I look back to Krysti and we whisper to each other.

"Look I don't know dude, I don't think I trust her," Krysti told me. I explain what happened at the party and Krysti looks shocked by the end. She notices a bruise under my eye and stares at me. I get nervous and start focusing on the lesson.

The bell rings and the class ends.

"Don't ask her out yet, give it some time and get to know each other, I'm sure she's hiding some stuff too." Krysti runs off to her next class. I think to myself. She's right, Ivory knows about me but, I know nothing about Ivory.

During break time I saw Ivory laughing with Jade. She looked so beautiful when she smiled, I couldn't handle it. I walked up to them.

"Ivory, spend break with me today? You can meet the rest of my friends. Jade you can come too I'm sure you'll fit in,"

They look at each other and I see Ivory give Jade a worried look.

"Ivory it'll be great my friends will love you. The girls maybe not so much but the boys will." I explain. Jade gives Ivory a look that screams "Pleaaasseee"

Ivory gave in and came with me. She held my hand as we walked towards my table in the canteen. She sat down close to me and all the boys ooed and awed. A few girls went to sit at another table and some tried move closer to me. This made me laugh. If only they realized I only want Ivory.

"So, Remi, this your new bitch?" one of the guys at the table says. I look at him with my eyes narrowed.

"Uh, my soon to be girlfriend I'm hoping," I say as I look at Ivory and wink. She blushes and puts her head in her hands.

The guys smile at me.

"SIMP," A few of the guys shout. I'm sure the whole canteen heard them. I put my head in my hands too, blushing as well now.

We continue talking for the rest of break and Ivory seemed to have warmed up to my friends well. She had no problem talking to them and they even made a few jokes with each other. I'm happy my friends like her. They're going to have to like her because she's staying with me forever.

"Ivory, would you date Remi?" my friend asks. She hesitates with her reply. I'm anxious to hear the answer.

-IVORY

I went home that day and when I came home my mom and Gary weren't home. They went out doing some planning for the wedding. I texted Remi and told him to come over. He was here 5 minutes later. I heard his car revving outside so I ran to the door.

I ran to him and hugged him. He lifted me off the ground and hugged my tight. I felt safe in his arms.

"So, what's up, why did you call me here?" he asked.

"I'm home alone," I say as I give him an exciting look.

He rushes me inside and I turn on the tv.

"What you want to watch?"

"I don't care, whatever suits you?" he responds.

"We aren't doing anything just to be clear," I tell him.

"Yes, I know, I'm just eager to hang out." He looks at me and smiles. We don't end up watching anything. We chatted away for about an hour about anything we could think of.

"You a virgin?" he asks me. I don't even know how to respond.

"Does rape count?" I say jokingly. He laughs but stops right after.

"Just to be clear your joking, right?" He had a guilty look on his face.

"Yes, I'm joking don't worry," I reply. I wasn't joking though.

I think he could tell I wasn't. He pulled me in for a hug and held me tight. We hugged for a few minutes straight. I didn't want to let go, hugging Remi felt like nothing else existed. When I hug Remi, I forget that my mom is marrying my rapist and she doesn't know it. I forget about my mom caring more about Gary than me and I forget that soon enough, he's going to be my step-father.

I hear the lock clicking and my mom and Gary laughing outside the door. Me and Remi both look at each other with wide eyes and run upstairs. My mom comes into the house. They seemed to have been talking about who to invite to the wedding.

"Hide under my bed for now you can sneak out after, you'll get caught if you leave now," I tell Remi. He slides under the bed. I spray perfume in my room to get rid of his smell. But we were downstairs. Fuck.

I hear my mom coming up the stairs. She comes in my room and I stand in front of my bed. I feel uncomfortable and weird.

"How was school?"

"Oh, the usual," I reply.

"What did you figure out about the wedding?" I ask her trying to distract her.

"I actually wanted to talk to you about that, Gary said maybe it would be better if you weren't there. It's going to be really long and you'll get bored. I'm sure you rather stay at home and read or something anyways, right?" she goes on.

"WHAT?" I shout. My eyes were wide again. How could she agree to this? I know exactly what Gary is up to.

"I'm coming to the wedding," I tell her.

"Sweetie, the way we planned it, there's no room for you," my mom tries to explain.

"I'll stand through it I don't mind, I'm coming no matter what."

Remi crawls from under the bed. He seems upset with my mom.

"REMI WHAT THE FUCK!" I shout. Tears start rolling town my cheeks and go all the way down to my neck. I wipe them away with my sleeve.

"Uh, mom this is Remi, we were playing hide and seek, found you," I say with a sarcastic smile.

"Ivory can I have a word with your mother?" I look at him. What is he doing? I nod and walk out the room.
