Today is homecoming.
This is going to be a long day I can just feel it.
First of all we have classes today, then a pep rally, then the homecoming game, then the dance.
I never understood why the dance couldn't be the night after.
It's just so much going on in one little twenty four hours.
I made sure last night to leave everything I needed for the dance at Cora's.
Our plan is after the game we head back to her house, get ready, and then go straight to the dance.
The game should end at around nine or nine thirty. The dance starts at ten.
A dance on school property that late should be illegal.
When I walk down stairs I see that my mom is gone, leaving a trail of liquor bottles behind.
She was home last night but I guess she decided to leave sometime between me falling asleep and waking up.
After I get home from the dance tonight I'll clean up all the bottles.
In the kitchen I grab breakfast, before walking to school.
All of my classes seem to be in slow motion today.
Then it's time for the pep rally.
I am already in my cheer uniform. We have to wear them during school on game days.
Naomi starts out every pep rally the same.
Getting everyone up on their feet and cheering.
I mean that is the point of a pep rally.
Since it's a homecoming pep rally they have the football players come out to do some games.
Even Principle Miller participates in one.
We do the spirit stick and the freshman win it, then it's time to head home.
Well for like three hours before I have to head to the game.
Cora and I get into her car.
"Aren't you excited for tonight?" She asks buckling her seatbelt.
I shrug, "I bet it'll be fun."
"Well duh. We get to dance with our dates. Maybe even share a kiss with them?" She wiggles her eyebrows at the notion.
Ever since Ben's asked me to the dance Cora has been all over it.
I've told her since he asked me Tuesday that we're just friends.
She doesn't believe me.
Cora thinks he asked me because he wants us to be more than friends.
