Strings of Love

Chapter Three

"Luca!" Kate exclaimed while running down the hallway to his locker, "How'd the talk with Max go?" Luca looked at Kate. "Where did you hear that?" Luca asked. 

"Everyone is talking about it,"Kate said. Luca scanned through the hallway and saw multiple people talking and giggling, and then looked back at Kate. "Everyone as in "You?" Luca asked. 

Kate smiled and looked at Luca. "So, tell me the details,"Kate said while locking her arm in his as they walked down the hallway. Luca laughed. "No details,"Luca said, "All I did was show him to the choir room." 

"I'm in love,"Kate laughed, "In a matter of months, you'll be dating, Mark my words." Luca laughed. "Yeah, okay,"Luca said softly. "Hey, Luca,"Max said softly. "Max,"Luca said. 

"I'm Kate,"Kate said while holding her hand out to Max, allowing him to shake it, "Luca's best friend. Listen here buddy, if you hurt him, then you'll have me to deal with, got it?" 

Max stood there awkwardly while shaking her hand and Luca cleared his throat. "Kate, Alex is waiting for you,"Luca said while slightly pushing Kate away from him, "You should get to class." Kate smiled as she walked away. 

Luca sighed and looked at Max. "Sorry about her,"Luca apologized. "It's fine,"Max said, "We should get to class." Luca nodded and followed Max to class. 

As they entered the classroom, there were only two seats left in the back of the classroom. Luca sat down and Max sat next to him. 

"Luca,"Max said softly. Luca looked at Max. "Yeah?" Luca asked. "How long have you been playing?" Max asked. Luca looked at him confusingly. "Huh?" Luca asked. 

Max laughed a little. "How long have you been playing your guitar?" Max asked. "Oh,"Luca said, "I've been playing for 3 years." "Have you learned anything new?" Max asked, "Any new chords? Made your own songs?" 

Luca shook his head. "I don't write my own songs,"Luca said, "I simply just play just to play." Max looked at Luca. "Would you care for a singer?" Max asked. "What?" Luca asked, "You want to become bandmates?" 

"Only if you're up for it,"Max said, "I mean, it's just a thought. You don't have to give me an answer now. Just think about it." Luca nodded and class started. 

In the middle of class, Luca noticed that Max was getting nervous. "Hey, are you alright?" Luca asked while looking at him. Max looked at Luca, grabbed his backpack, and ran out of the room. 

The teacher looked at Luca and nodded. Luca grabbed his things and went after Max. "Max, hey, are you alright?" Luca asked while knocking on the stall door. "I'm fine,"Max panted. 

"Open the door,"Luca said, "I swear if you don't open this door, I'm going to break it down." The stall unlocked. Click. Luca pushed the door open, and saw Max crying. 

Luca dropped his bag, and sat down in front of Max. "What's wrong?" Luca asked. Max shook his head. "Nothing,"Max cried. Luca noticed Max's hands shaking and he slowly reached over and placed his hands on top. 

"Look at me,"Luca said softly. Max looked at Luca. "Close your eyes and focus on your breathing,"Luca said. Max closed his eyes and controlled his breathing. Within a few seconds, his heavy breathing got lighter and his shaking stopped. 

Max opened his eyes. "Thanks,"Max said. Luca nodded. "You're welcome,"Luca said while pulling Max to his feet. "How'd you know what was happening?" Max asked. 

"My little sister has them,"Luca said, "So I've had experience." Max smiled. "What do you say after school?" Max asked, "We go to Warner's Diner, I heard that place is the spot to go to when you need a day to chill?" 

Luca smiled. "Is that a date?" Luca teased. Max ran his hands through his hair. "It can be,"Max winked at Luca. They both laughed a little. "I'm down,"Luca said. Max nodded. "I'll see you after school,"Max said.
