Max closed the door after everyone left, and went back to the kitchen. Luca was cleaning the kitchen when he felt arms wrap around his body. "Everything went well,"Max smiled, "There was no fighting."
Luca relaxed in Max's arms. "What's wrong?" Max asked. "I'm tired, very, very tired,"Luca yawned. "What happened?" Max asked, "Are you okay?" Luca smiled. "I'll be fine,"Luca said, "I just need some rest."
Max nodded and kissed Luca's head. "Go upstairs, I'll finish cleaning up,"Max said. Luca nodded and went upstairs. Max finished cleaning the kitchen, and turned off the light. He cleaned up the living room and called Luca's mom.
Max: Hey, Ms. Williams.
Ms. Williams: Hi Max. Is everything okay?
Max: I'm a bit worried about Luca. He hasn't been feeling so great.
Ms. Williams: What's wrong with him?
Max: I have no idea, I was calling since you are a nurse, I was hoping you could help me out.
Ms. Williams: Is he running a fever? Sweating? Coughing? Sneezing?
Max: Yes ma'am. I don't know what to do.
Ms. Williams: Send me your address, I'll be over as quick as possible.
Max: Okay.
Max sent Ms. Williams his address
Ms. Williams: Thank you for looking out for my son.
Max: Always. I'll see you when you arrive.
The phone hung up, and Max walked upstairs. Max saw that Luca's clothing was everywhere and Luca had thrown up. He ran over to Luca. "Hey, Luca,"Max said, "Time to wake up now." No response.
Max checked for a pulse. There wasn't one. "Luca,"Max said while shaking him, "It's time to get up. Your mom is on the way." Nothing. Max pulled out his phone and called Ms. Williams again.
Max: He's not breathing!
Ms. Williams: I'll meet you at the hospital.
Max hung up the phone and called 911. They arrived and took Luca to the hospital. Max was sitting in the waiting room, with Alex and Kate.
"What happened?" Alex asked. "He told me he was very tired,"Max explained, "And I took over the kitchen, I called his mom to inform her that he wasn't doing too great. When I went to check on him, his clothes were all over the floor and he had vomited on himself. He didn't have a pulse."
Kate ran her hand through her hair. "What's happening to him?" Kate asked scaredly. "I don't know,"Max said softly, "I just hope we figure out soon." Luca's mom walked into the waiting room.
"You guys can come see him,"Ms. Williams said. They all got up and went to Luca's room. Max ran into the room and hugged Luca tightly. "I thought something happened to you,"Max said softly while hugging him.
"I'm okay,"Luca said weakly, "I promise." Max smiled at Luca. Kate and Alex hugged Luca as well. "Do you know what's wrong with him?" Max asked while looking at Ms. Williams. "Max….Lucas has had Kidney stones for 3 years,"Ms. Williams said, "He's kept it a secret and he doesn't let it affect him."
Max looked at Luca with sad eyes. "Is that true?" Max asked sadly. Luca nodded. "I'm sorry,"Luca said softly. Max ran out of the room. "Max!" Kate yelled while running after him.
Kate stopped Max from leaving. "Why didn't he say anything?" Max asked while crying. "Max, he's kept it a secret, he didn't want anyone to find out about it,"Kate said. "He could've told me,"Max cried, "I would've helped him."
"I'm sorry,"Kate said. Max hugged Kate and she hugged him back. "I don't want to lose him,"Max cried on Kate's shoulder, "I can't lose him. I can't. He's all I have. Please."
