Strings of Love

Chapter Nine

Luca was walking down the hallway when he felt an arm latch into his and an arm on his shoulder. "Look, as much as I would love to stay and chat with my amazing best friend and bandmate,"Luca said, "I have to get to class." 

Luca was about to walk away when Max wrapped his arm around his waist and pulled him back so his backpack was touching his chest. "Really?" Max asked while whispering in Luca's ear, "You're going to walk away after what we did after Kate left last night? Or do you need a little reminder, baby?" 

Luca coughed and got out of Max's grip. "We're at school,"Luca whispered. Max winked. "I love you too,"Max smiled while walking away. Luca smiled and turned around, only to find Kate smiling at him. 

"You're dating?" Kate smiled. Luca sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you "No?" Luca asked while walking down the hallway to class. "Lucas,"Kate said while holding his hand, "Tell me." 

Luca smiled. "We're not,"Luca said truthfully, "We just flirt, like a lot." "Why haven't either of you made the first move yet?" Kate asked. "We already made the first move,"Luca said, "After you left last night." 

Kate gasped and repeatedly kept hitting his arm. Luca laughed and grabbed Kate's wrist. "Would you stop that!" Luca laughed. "In what way?" Kate asked. Luca looked at Kate. "It was very intense,"Luca said. 

"Did you makeout?" Kate asked, "Was it hot? Did some clothing disappear?" 
"Katelyn!" Luca exclaimed, "We talked. All night long. No makeouts. No disappearing clothes. Nothing." 

Kate sighed disappointedly. "You have one job!" Kate exclaimed. "Kate, I'll see you later,"Luca said. Kate nodded, hugged Luca, and went to class. Luca walked into class and sat down at his desk. His phone went off. It was Max. 

Max: Hey, we're practicing tonight, right?

Luca: Yeah, why? Something wrong? What's going on?

Max: Is it okay if we reschedule? 

Luca: Yeah.

Max: I'm sorry. A family emergency came up. Again, I'm sorry. 

Luca: It's fine, Max. Do what you need. I have to study tonight anyways. 

Max: Are you sure? 

Luca: I'm sure. Just let me know when you reach your destination. If I can, maybe I'll catch you before you leave. 

Max: Okay. I'll see you later. 

Luca: See you. 

Luca put his phone away and continued throughout the day. Kate walked over to him. "Nice to see that you're not leaving school for some Max,"Kate teased. Luca shook his head. 

"This is his seventh time canceling on me,"Luca said, "Maybe he isn't committed to this "bandmate" thing anymore, Kate." 

"Luca,"Kate said, "Try talking to him instead of making these assumptions." 
Luca nodded. "I'll stop by his house later on,"Luca said softly. Kate nodded. "Come on, let's head to Warner's Diner,"Kate said. 

*8:45 pm*

Luca arrived at Max's house and parked in front of the house. He noticed another car in the driveway, but didn't pay any mind to it and walked up the stairs of the porch. 

He reached the front door and he knocked. There was shuffling on the inside of the house and the door swung open. "Get the hell out of my house!" Max yelled. A girl ran out of the house and passed Luca with her shirt in her hands, covering her chest. 

Luca turned back to the open door and saw Max standing there, shirtless, an undone belt, and marks all over his upper body. "Baby,"Max said softly while running down the stairs to stop Luca from leaving. 

Luca was about to get into his car, but Max stood in between him and his car door. "Let me leave,"Luca said annoyingly, "I clearly showed up at the wrong time." 

"No,"Max said. "Max, I have to go,"Luca said irritatedly while trying to move Max away from his door, but Max didn't budge. "Not until I explain,"Max said softly. 

"Explain!?" Luca asked while yelling, "What the hell is it that you have to explain to me!? What!? That you were just playing with me that entire time!? Why didn't you say you were straight!? Why didn't you say you had a girlfriend!?" 

"I don't!" Max yelled, "I don't have a girlfriend! I'm not straight, Luca!" "Then who the hell was she!?" Luca asked while yelling. 

Max stepped close to Luca and pulled him closer to him. "She was someone who was about to force themselves onto me,"Max said softly while rubbing his thumb on Luca's lower lip, "I only want you. No one else. Please, I promise to you that nothing like that'll ever happen when I'm with you. Ever. Luca, I love you. No more flirting. No more joking around. This time, I want you and I mean now." 

Luca smiled, locked his car doors, and looked at Max. "Then you can have me,"Luca smiled. Max grabbed Luca's hand, took his back inside, and they went upstairs to his room. 

*You and I both know what happened, no need to be confused*

After about three hours, Luca and Max were wrapped in each other's arms. "You're mine,"Max whispered against Luca's lips, "You're all mine and I'm all yours." Luca nodded tiredly and kissed Max passionately. 

"I love you,"Luca whispered. "I love you too,"Max said while kissing Luca's head. Luca cuddled into Max and they went to sleep.
